Yeah, installed some Linux today 🐧
After 6 years of Windows only on my desktop, I took some time today and installed CachyOS (based on ArchLinux, which I used around 2010) on my old Ubuntu partition. I'm still experimenting around but I'm looking forward to replace Windows nearly completely. KDE on CachyOS looks awesome and Proton, Steam et al are much better today than 6 years ago.
Another step in my crusade to de-enshittify my digital life 😄 -

Arbeite seit Jahren mit vms auf dem Desktop, für verschiedene Nutzungs-Szenarien je eine Maschine. Vor dem Wechsel auf #debian musste ich unter #windows mit hyperv ständig mit kaputten vms rechnen, außerdem war die performance teilweise sehr schlecht, cpu und ram oft am Limit.
Seit dem Wechsel zu #linux auf Desktop (DesktopPC und Notebook) sind die vms so stabil, wie ich es unter Linux Server auch gewohnt bin, sie laufen ohne Probleme und verursachen wenig Systemlast.

I totally agree that the process of installing Ubuntu or any free aand open operating system next to an existing proprietary operating system should be straightforward.
In my experience, the reason installing a free & open operating system sometimes isn't completely easy and straightforward is generally not because of the free and open operating system failing as much as it is because of the proprietary operating system design purposefully making the process more difficult to discourage the use of free & open operating systems.
In a sense, I believe this is a case of Microsoft punishing you by making your life more difficult, possibly even causing you to delete your personal files, to discourage you and anyone else who attempts to install a free & open operating system, possibly reducing the use of their proprietary system,

Ich muss bei einer Lehrkräfte-Fortbildung in BaWü vermutlich schon wieder Adobe Connect verwenden.
Ohne die #NoWindows oder #NoMAC Software kann das fast nix.
Ich brauche Firefox für Kamera, Chomium für Mikro.
PDF kann das nicht sinnvoll und Bildschirmfreigabe geht im Browser auch nicht.
WER ZUM TEUFEL BEZAHLT DAFÜR GELD???????
