Vor wenigen Monaten wechselte ich von WhatsApp zu Element X.
WhatsApp verschlüsselt zwar Inhalte, sammelt aber massenhaft Metadaten und hält mich im Ökosystem fest. Aus diesen Metadaten lassen sich Profile erstellen, die anschließend für gezielte Werbung und andere Zwecke genutzt werden.
Also begab ich mich auf die Suche nach einer Alternative und bin beim Matrix-Protokoll hängen geblieben. Es ist dezentral, Open Source und plattformunabhängig mit vielen Features: Chat, Anrufe, Standort- und Bildschirmausteilung, Sprachnachrichten, Umfragen, Videokonferenzen und Dateifreigabe. Die Funktionen stehen WhatsApp in nichts nach. Was ich jedoch nicht verstehe, ist, warum viele so große Skrupel davor haben, einer Alternative eine Chance zu geben. Testet es, gebt dem Ganzen eine Chance.

La France se prépare à larguer les géants américains de la tech, l’Europe pourrait suivre.
La France semble être la cheffe de file d’un mouvement croissant en Europe, cherchant à atteindre au plus vite la souveraineté numérique pour ne plus dépendre des États-Unis, ni de l’humeur de son président, Donald Trump.
Les pays d’Europe sont dépendants des technologies numériques américaines et ils le savent. Avec le retour de Donald Trump au pouvoir et les tensions croissantes entre le Vieux Continent et les États-Unis, ils semblent donc s’accorder dans leur volonté de troquer les technologies américaines contre des alternatives locales, dans le but d’atteindre au plus vite une forme de souveraineté numérique.
Selon le média Wired, il n’y a pas de meilleur exemple que la France pour illustrer cette ambition. Ces derniers mois, le gouvernement français a accéléré ses efforts pour développer et déployer ses propres technologies à destination des fonctionnaires avec un objectif affiché: réduire de toute urgence sa dépendance aux technologies américaines, en raison de préoccupations liées à la sécurité des données, à l’imprévisibilité de l’administration Trump et à la fluctuation des prix.
