In the basement messing around with the mix on this slow original acoustic blues tune. Got five tracks; my vocal, rhythm acoustic, solo acoustic, harp and shaker. Used the Takamine EF407 and a Hohner Special 20 key of D harmonica. Plugged the Tak direct in and mic’d the harp. Harp mic was Apex 327 and vocal mic was Apex 550 FET. Got some EQ on every track except vocal. Still gotta tweak that. It’s pretty raw but the bones are there. More mixing to do. #music #recording #guitar #gearsquad #blues #harmonica

I recently bought a #harmonica. It has a nice big letter F painted on the side of the wood to indicate the key it's tuned to. Or at least, it used to have that. The paint has been smudged. I guess I shouldn't have played it during the recent heat wave.

The Seydel Nonslider a twelve hole chromatic #harmonica without slider.
I imagine playing it with a guitar using a harmonica holder.
And they even have the option to re-tune, imagine it in diminished tuning :O that would be the last instrument I'd ever need to get.

I just picked up my first #harmonica in a minor key and other tunings. It is so much fun! I got several of these inexpensive Kongsheng 7-hole Baby-Fat harmonicas to experiment with.
The purple one is in B-flat minor tuning, the red one is paddy richter tuned, the gold one is country tuned.
As expected, the minor tuning makes everything sound sad, but the note layout also makes it much easier to play (sad) melodies. I can play a few random progressions and it sounds surprisingly good.
Both the paddy richter and country tuned ones differ from a standard diatonic by only one note. On the paddy richter, it changes the complexion of the instrument. It makes it easier to play Irish folk music. It’s weird how that one small change makes everything sound more Irish and it’s really fun to mess around with.
It also makes it really easy to play Stairway to Heaven. 😎
The country tuned one is the only one that doesn’t do much for me.
