Een maandelijkse Griekse avond op zolder in De Richel met live rebetika-muziek, heerlijk Grieks eten van Dina en natuurlijk ouzo en raki!
Rebetika is Griekse stedelijke muziek, met zijn hoogtijdagen in de jaren ’30. Het vindt zijn oorsprong in de Griekse gemeenschappen in Anatolië (Turkije) en mixt Anatolische en oosterse roots met westerse invloeden. Het was de muziek van de arme vluchtelingen uit Turkije die in de krottenwijken van Athene en Piraeus woonden, voor hen was het een manier om uiting te geven aan hun heimwee naar hun achtergelaten geboortegronden. Muziek van de schaduwmaatschappij, die verhaalt over kleine dieven, vetes, drugs, liefde en armoede. Sommigen noemen de teksten een vorm van gangsta rap avant-la-lettre, anderen zien er een beschrijving in van de ontberingen en smart van een leven aan de rand van de samenleving. Matsa Ranga speelt liedjes die de hele periode van de rebetika omspannen, van de ondergrondse muziek van de vluchtelingen in de jaren 1930 tot de meer boheemse en sociaal geaccepteerde stijl van de jaren 1950.
Athina Anagnostou (zang, percussie) komt uit Ioannina. Ze studeerde aan de conservatoria van Arta en Rotterdam en zingt al sinds haar 19e rebetika, met optredens door heel Europa.
Thomas Huisman (bouzouki, zang) komt uit Rotterdam en raakte verknocht aan de rebetika tijdenseen Erasmusuitwisseling in Thessaloniki. Hij treedt in verschillende formaties op in zowel Nederland als Griekenland.
Dimitris Tsiotas (gitaar, zang) komt uit Athene en studeerde jazzgitaar aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Daarnaast speelt hij al jaren rebetika, zowel gitaar als bouzouki.

A monthly Greek night in the attic of De Richel with live rebetika music, lovely Greek food by Dina and of course ouzo and raki!
Rebetika is Greek urban music, with its heyday in the 1930’s. Originating from the Greek communities of Asia Minor (Turkey) it mixes Anatolian and Eastern roots with Western influences. It was the music of the poor refugees from Turkey, living in the shanty towns of Athens and Pireaus, and it was a way of reminiscing their abandoned hometowns. It was the music of the underground, telling stories about petty thieves, feuds, drugs, love and poverty. Some call the lyrics a form of gangster rap avant-la-lettre, others see in it a description of daily life filled with hardships and sorrow on the fringes of society. Matsa Ranga plays songs spanning all of rebetiko’s history, from underground refugee music in the 1930’s to the more bohemian and socially accepted style of the 1950’s.
Athina Anagnostou (voice, percussion) hails from Ioannina. She studied at the conservatories of Arta and Rotterdam and sings rebetika since the age of 19, with concerts throughout Europe.
Thomas Huisman (bouzouki, voice) was born in Rotterdam and got hooked on rebetika during an Erasmus exchange in Thessaloniki. He plays in various formations both in the Netherlands as in Greece.
Dimitris Tsiotas (guitar, voice) is from Athnes and studies jazz guitar at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. He’s also been playing rebetika for years, both on bouzouki and on guitar.

Μάτσα Ράγκα:
Αθηνά Αναγνώστου (τραγούδι, κρουστά) είναι από τα Ιωάννινα. Σπούδασε στα κονσερβατόρια της Άρτας και του Ροτερντάμ και τραγουδάει ρεμπέτικα από τα 19 της, με συναυλίες σε όλη την Ευρώπη.
Thomas Huisman (μπουζούκι, τραγούδι) γεννήθηκε στο Ροτερντάμ και πλανεύτηκε από τα ρεμπέτικα σε ανταλλαγή φοιτητών Εράσμους στην Θεσσαλονίκη. Παίζει σε διάφορα σχήματα με εμφανίσεις στην Ολλανδία και στην Ελλάδα.
Δημήτρης Τσιώτας (κιθάρα, τραγούδι) είναι από την Αθήνα και σπούδασε τζαζ κιθάρα στο

Detroit rapper Lelo continues his breakout run in 2026 with new music and a sold-out headline tour. His latest release, “Like Sunday,” follows “Dice Roll” and “Yoppenheimer (Remix)” with Joey Bada$$, building on the momentum of his double mixtape Mastiff / Pink Tiles. The two-disc project brings together his signature “New Detroit” sound and a more experimental side shaped by ghettotech and club music.
After making his Rolling Loud debut and performing alongside Don Toliver at Summerfest, Lelo completed a sold-out 15-city tour with a homecoming show at Detroit’s St. Andrew’s Hall. His sound, rooted in Detroit street rap while drawing from house and ’80s Detroit techno, has earned recognition from Billboard, Pitchfork, The FADER and Highsnobiety. With a new full-length project on the horizon, Lelo remains one of the Midwest’s most closely watched new voices.

AFICIONADO – Flamenco Moro brings together two traditions that are closer to one another than they first appear: flamenco and the Moorish-Andalusian music of Morocco. Alaa Zouiten discovered flamenco through Paco de Lucía and from 2015 travelled repeatedly to Andalusia to learn it — and in the process found his way back to the music of his own country. Flamenco palos supply the form, while the material moves freely between the two shores: a fandango opens onto an old Andalusian nuba, a tango turns North African in its rhythm, an Arabic samai leads into a soleá flamenca. The oud carries all of it. The album of the same name was released in April 2025 and awarded four stars by Songlines. In the trio format — oud, guitar and percussion — the music draws closer together, more chamber-like and more open to the moment. The boundaries fall and clear the horizon — for the beauty of music

Alaa Zouiten — oud, composition (MA)
Alaa Zouiten is an oud player and composer based in Berlin. Born in Casablanca and trained at the Conservatoire National de Marrakech, he began his career in Moroccan fusion as a member of the Gnawa-rock band Jbara. Since then he has worked across jazz-rock, Arabic-Andalusian repertoire, flamenco, orchestral music and theatre: his debut Hada Makan (2012) was followed by Talking Oud (2015), supported by the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, in which he pushed the sonic and technical limits of his instrument. As soloist and musical director he has worked with the Global Arabian Music Orchestra at the Berlin Philharmonie, with the Babylon Orchestra at the Bachfest Leipzig and at the Neuköllner Oper, where he appeared in Haydar Tanzt more than forty times; in 2025 he led the world premiere of Memories of Alhambra at the Royal Opera House Muscat. His album AFICIONADO – Flamenco Moro (2025) was awarded four stars by Songlines and has been performed at the Bienal del Flamenco in Seville and on tour in China, among others. His work rests on what he calls plaisir transculturel: the pleasure of moving between traditions.
Naoufal Montassere — guitar (MA)
Moroccan guitarist Naoufal Montassere lives in Berlin and plays a fusion of flamenco and Latin guitar with oriental influences, without either language losing its essence. The duo album Serendipia with Argentine guitarist Diego Romero appeared in 2021, followed by his solo album Osoul in 2022. In Berlin he also leads his own Naoufal Montassere Quartet.
Antonio Moreno “Pumuki” — percussion (ESP)
Antonio Moreno “Pumuki,” born in Cieza (Murcia) in 1972, came to flamenco by way of rock and metal, and spent eleven years in Madrid — eight of them at the tablao Cardamomo. He has played and worked with Enrique Morente, Tomatito, Diego “El Cigala,” Carles Benavent and Jorge Pardo, and is now a fixture of Berlin’s flamenco scene, notably with Azuleo. He teaches cajón and flamenco rhythm at Centro Flamenco Berlin.
