  1. Extended my time tracking extension for Gnome with automatic window focus detection. Timers now activate when you focus a window matching your regex rules.
No more remembering to turn the timer on when switching projects and activities.

  2. After fiddling around with a number of different #clipboard managers, I finally came upon #Copyous this morning. The other utilities I tried either had issues with #Wayland / #Gnome or just felt too clunky.
Copyous on the other hand, integrates pretty seamlessly into the system and feels like a very natural extension of the DE so far.

It's based on #Pano and is available in the standard #GnomeExtension library.

    Anyone else using this?

  3. New GNOME extension Bluetooth Battery Meter to show battery percentage of connected Bluetooth devices (only for GNOME 45 unfortunately):

Flathub published a new guideline for app metadata which helps developers add better metadata to their apps, enhancing user experience:

  4. I just installed Pano - Clipboard Manager. Well, this extension is awesome. I like how easy it is to use and its design.

  5. Time for another #GnomeExtension I have installed on my #fedora system. Today:

    GSConnect

This extension is just a must-have, if you daily drive an #android (or #eOS) phone alongside your #GNOME desktop. It just gets out of my way and lets me enjoy the great integration of my phone with my #linux desktop. Amazing work.

  6. Guake has long been a favorite application of mine. If you’re new to Guake, it’s a terminal application for Linux that stays out of site until it’s summoned with a hotkey, like the console in Id Software’s Quake games.

Hit F12 or whatever combo you set up for it, and it slides into view over the top of other windows. When you’re done, bang the hotkey again and it slides back up out of sight. I find it super useful.

But, I’ve long wanted to be able to do that with other applications. Specifically, I’ve really craved a text editor that would be easy to summon like Guake so I could keep running notes and scratchpads for little snippets of text.

Technically I could just use Vim for that in Guake, but I wanted something a bit easier to copy and paste text in and out of. My previous searches never turned up anything I loved, so I stopped looking.

While looking for another GNOME extension today, I found Quake-mode. This is just the thing I was looking for. After installing the extension you can choose whatever application you like, set an “Accelerator” (hotkey) and you’re all good. You also have the option of setting a notification area icon if you prefer to mouse it.

Nice, simple, perfect for productivity. I’ve set it up to use Gedit but you could do whatever makes sense for you.

The only thing that would be better is if it supported more than one app. But I won’t be greedy, one is good enough, and it doesn’t conflict with Guake so I get my terminal and text editor too. Love it. Big thanks to the author of this extension.

  7. Another day to present one of my installed #GnomeExtension|s:

    Gesture Improvements
    by Harshad Gavali

I use #GNOME with #wayland, so the gesture support is pretty good out of the box. But I like the little touch, that this extension lets me tile my windows with touchpad gestures. Really love it!

  8. The third #GnomeExtension that I have installed.. the famous and well received:

    Caffeine
    by Jean-Philippe Braun

For a while I thought I didn't have a use for this - until I tried cooking a recipe I had open on my laptop. This handy little extension lets you switch off auto suspend with a single click. No more jumping to the laptop to wiggle the cursor before the screen turns off. ☕

  9. Upgraded last night from 20.04 to 21.04 on my main rig. The uograde was slow and a bit nerve-racking. In the end, I must say that desktop is quite nice. I no longer need installed. I hope this DE carries on into . Otherwise, it is on a different distro as a replacement.
