Hello Fediverse Hive Mind!
I've got a question for the Linux mavens.
I use Pop!_Os and have been chomping at the bit to upgrade from 22.04 LTS to the new 24.04 with Rust and the Cosmic desktop.
But I'm a cautious guy and getting on in years, so I don't want to get myself into trouble.
Is it safe?
How is the current state of the new version?
Can I update and have a reliable everyday machine?
I am retired, so I don't use my Linux box for work, just personal stuff.
Thanx and good will to any of you who respond.

I can't believe it. Just today I gave up on my outdated laptop and forced the update from Pop!_OS 22.04 to 24.04 beta and just a couple of hours later the actual 24.04 LTS releases. big LOL
it is neat so far. we will see how it goes.

Okay. finally popped PopOS onto this little thinkpad. This feels much better. Something a bit familiar, something a bit new. This nice little in between that isn't coding cool guy stuff.
Also I didn't think I wanted tiling until maybe just now. this is nice. This can stay.

Time for an OS upgrade...

Upgraded #pop_os last night from 20.04 to 21.04 on my main rig. The uograde was slow and a bit nerve-racking. In the end, I must say that #PopOSCosmic desktop is quite nice. I no longer need #dashtodock #gnomeextension installed. I hope this DE carries on into #gnome40. Otherwise, it is #kde on a different distro as a replacement.

@AaronTheIssueGuy
I'm probably going to switch to Manjaro from next month as well, since I don't like the new UI of Pop!_OS
