I am finally back to Solus Linux. CachyOS is nice, but in many points it's beyond my daily needs for the ThinkPad E16. Solus is much smoother and I still prefer Budgie Desktop in comparison to KDE Plasma.
Some things I still have to figure out. But I am back at 90% thanks to a simple backup-strategy realized with my Synology NAS using Synology Drive Client. #linux #distro #solus #budgie

I moved from CachyOS to Omarchy.

This has probably the easiest switch I have ever done, lol. Other than one audio bug everything just worked and it looks AMAZING!

Gonna roll with this Distro for now and see how it holds up. 👌

Se a pessoa realmente está disposta a usar distro Linux, sempre recomendo usar previamente aplicativos multiplataforma que funcionam em ambos os sistemas, pois facilita a #migração

Mas se quer #migrar para uma distro para tentar replicar o comportamento do MS #Windows ou do #macOS , então reforço desde logo ficar no sistema original

I keep reading that one should not create yet another new #Linux #distribution unless it's truly unique & no other similar choices are available. I decided to put in writing what I've been looking for in a Linux distribution. If anyone knows of a Linux #distro that's a solid match to these goals, please advise. If not, is anyone else interested in seeing these choices & options become a reality in a Linux distribution? Here's my wish list:

YouTube Linux tier lists based on vibes always crack me up. Debian gets called "ancient" like that's bad.

Reality: stable base for what matters (system, libs) + custom APT repos + Flatpak + .deb + source for apps that need to be current.

My Librewolf, for instance, stays current via their APT repo. LibreOffice via direct .deb. System packages via apt. All on Debian.

The "Debian is outdated" take usually comes from people who only know apt install from official repos.

Debian's real strength is being a stable foundation you build on, not a walled garden.

@subm3rge Having a 1.5kg laptop with 24 cores is "nice", and arguable more *powerful* than an ARM SoC with ~50nm die.

However, the actual usefulness diminishes sharply behind typical deskwork tasks that can absolutely be done in a performant way on 4 cores in a lean #linux #distro.

And all of that has been reverse engineered to the X so big tech really has no moat against people doing their own thing.

J'allais booter le live usb de #Debian mais j'arrive pas à aller au-delà du menu, c'est comme super lent et j'entrevois des messages qui vont dans ce sens (cfr capture).
J'ai essayé Ubuntu, là ça boote sur le live usb mais c'est super lent (genre ça refresh toutes les 10 15 secondes, j'ai pas vraiment le contrôle).

Comme PopOS marche, je tente avec l'image incluant les drivers nvidia et là, aucun souci ça boote bien sur le desktop live, tout est contrôlable...

Ç dit quelque chose à quelqu'un ? J'allais tester avec une autre distro incluant les drivers nvidia pour vraiment voir si c'est lié, et j'aimerais savoir pourquoi ça se comprte ainsi.
