Via City of Malibu:
"The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for Los Angeles County that will be in effect from now through 3pm Sunday afternoon. The periods between 6 am and noon on Saturday and Sunday have the highest risk. The upgrade to a "Warning" highlights the increased risk for damage due to coastal flooding.
The areas of most concern include Long Beach, Avalon, and Malibu.
While south-facing shores have the greatest risk, minor coastal flooding is also possible for west facing shores.
High tides peak Sat-Sun at 7.3-7.6 feet between 9am and 10am, with surf of 4-7 feet.
Sunday morning has the widest range of outcomes due to light to moderate rain, wind, low pressure tidal enhancements, and swells coming from multiple directions. Coastal flooding impacts on Sunday could be similar to today, but they also could be greatly enhanced. While any flooding directly connected to the rain is expected to be minor, accumulating rain could make sea water drainage more challenging for low-lying areas.
Coastal flooding risks will continue through Tuesday or Wednesday, but lower in severity after Sunday.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Stay off of beaches and coastal walkways, roads, and structures.
Do NOT drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
Heed advice from local officials.
Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay
near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in
such conditions, stay off the rocks."
