Doing my taxes today and here's a warning to other Canadians doing their taxes. The CRA autofill did not fill in my wife's T5 they knew about, and had no record of and thus didn't fill in, any of her 3 T4RIFs! I was wondering why we didn't owe much tax this year. Does that mean that the bank didn't forward them to CRA, or their tax program was vibe coded?

The next obvious way, if you don't want to install Windows on bare metal, is to try using #Wine to run the software directly on #Linux. If you search the net, you'll find a little info about doing this. A lot is ancient, but still seems to apply - but the stuff I found was not detailed at all, just people saying "it works" or similar.

I was able to finish the process, but ran into some issues, a few of which were not obvious. I thought this might help others.

You can wait for the fix, print and mail your tax return, or change the 50% split on the T3 to 100% and then enter half the value for all the boxes for you and your spouse's returns.

DO NOT repeatedly submit as CRA will lock your account, which takes hours to unlock.

The Taxpayers' Ombudsman released his long-awaited report on racism and Islamophobia at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

It tells us we have a problem.

The Ombudsman was not able to get everything he needed to conduct a thorough review of the CRA and its practice targeting particular communities.

This is alarming.

The CRA is not transparent.

It did not release everything needed for the Ombudsman to do his job.

Today, the Taxpayers’ Ombudsperson's Office released their report of systemic racism and Islamophobia at the CRA.

It paints a clear picture of a system where transparency and accountability are extremely difficult to ascertain.
