#BikeNite A1a: Back in #WaterlooRegion after doing the grand Burlington-Oakville-Elmira tour (sadly, by car, not bike)
A1b: I don't remember ever holding onto a moving vehicle while cycling, although that would be the kind memory to suppress if it ended badly.

Our Executive Director @uxMark was at ClimateFest in Downtown Kitchener yesterday meeting and talking with people about our free Cycling Guide mobile app. It was a beautiful, sunny day, and there were plenty of engaged people interested in replacing car trips with cycling trips!

I went over to the Bestival street festival in Belmont Village today. This is one of my absolute *favourite* events in Waterloo Region. I found some wonderful art to buy, heard some great music, and then saw this booth. I told James my story of my recent dooring in Toronto, and he gave me one of his t-shirts. We had a lovely conversation, too!

I have an insulated steel coffee mug, but that's for coffee. Keeps coffee hot for at least three hours when it's 20C out, and drinkably warm much longer. I don't do much cycling in winter, but coffee stays hot surpisingly long in sub-zero weather.
For water I have a few steel bottles that I prefer, and some rigid plastic (polycarbonate?) bottles I sometimes use.

The fall badly bent the chain tensioner on the rear hub of my new Brompton. It’s now in the shop at Black Arrow Cycles in Kitchener ON awaiting the arrival of a new tensioner. Black Arrow is a great place with good people, and they’ve recently become an authorized Brompton dealer and repair shop, so it’s in very good hands. But damn! I miss the bike and I’m bummed I’m not riding it today running errands.

Then Friday I was riding along a separated cycleway on King Street in Waterloo, between a street and a pedestrian sidewalk. A pedestrian stepped suddenly in front of me. I braked hard to avoid hitting them, but managed to fall over. They’d had their *back* to the cycleway, facing shops, and I had no expectation that they would step backwards into my path. I wasn’t hurt.
I had some choice words for the oblivious pedestrian who, to their credit, was quite apologetic.
