Voor zowel de RDI als het BIPT betekent de CRA dat we onze technische kennis en toezichtscapaciteit verder moeten ontwikkelen. Door ervaringen uit te wisselen met collega-toezichthouders in andere Europese landen, leren we van elkaar en versterken we onze aanpak.

Die #Cybersicherheit vernetzter Geräte rückt in den Fokus, denn ab Ende 2027 müssen Hersteller, Importeure und Vertreiber digitaler Produkte den #EU Cyber Resilience Act (#CRA) verbindlich einhalten.
Das europäische Standardisierungsinstitut #ETSI hat deshalb 17 Entwürfe technischer #Normen der Reihe EN 304 xxx veröffentlicht.

I have, with the help of AI, been working on an alternative approach, which would likely have to land in a follow up law. Now of course this could also mostly be AI hallucinations, since I am not a legal expert. So looking for expertise in #EU economic law and regulatory economics (parafiscal levies, EPR schemes, collecting societies) to assess the viability of an EU producer levy funding open source alongside the #CRA. "The US National Vulnerability Database, the resource much of the world’s security automation quietly relies on, spent 2024 watching its backlog of unanalyzed vulnerabilities climb past 27,000. In April 2026, the institute that runs it conceded it could not keep up and narrowed its full analysis to prioritize US federal and US-critical systems: roughly 15 to 20 percent of incoming vulnerabilities, by independent estimates. A month later, a US government watchdog reported the database could no longer be considered reliable. Europe had no vote in any of the decisions that led there."

Good news for #OpenSource contributors.
One of the most important clarifications in the #CRA Implementation Guidance?
Merely submitting code or patches to an open source project does not trigger obligations under the CRA.
The European Commission's guidance provides greater legal certainty for contributors and reinforces a principle the ORC community consistently advocated throughout the CRA discussions.

Another good meeting with Project Koala - The Transparency Exchange API or formally ECMA TC54 TG1. Finishing a few missing details in the 1.0 spec, but we're almost done. Now we'll focus on producing ECMA-compatible documentation for the standards process. I really enjoy working with a great team. In addition, we now have several implementations, so the standard is based on implementation experience.
