The landlord denies repeatedly that we have a mold problem.
This is our closet.
We keep cleaning it off, and it keeps growing back.
It's got to be inside the wall.
Our whole family has been feeling increasingly sick-- increased severity of asthma, rashes, and an increase of allergy symptoms, because of the mold problem in this apartment that was here before we moved in. I could tell what we would be in for, because the first week we moved in, I noticed spots where the mold was showing through the new coats of paint. (Somehow, this unit passed section 8 mainstream voucher inspection even though our side door didn't lock at the time, and still does not lock despite our many requests to have it fixed)
This landlord just had maintenance paint over the problem, probably in hopes that we'd never notice.
We been documenting this issue since 2 weeks after we moved in, since May 15th of this year, and he STILL denies there's a problem.
So far, we have a bathtub faucet that doesn't work (so the children who have skin conditions, can't soak), a toilet that doesn't flush properly (so I have to use the bedside commode), a molded bathroom ceiling in one bathroom and a water damage bubble growing in the other bathroom above the shower and an oven that doesn't work (we rely on crockpot, microwave, and stovetop to cook).
This landlord collects 1,215.00 for this unit per month. It's one apartment in a complex of around 100 other units.
We have a civil rights case open with the land lord because he made it clear that he doesn't like our family because we are autistic and disabled. Yet, the dept of civil rights has been favoring the landlord after I mistakenly told them that I was struggling with mental health issues.
Side note:
That's our computer monitor box that's in the picture. It's probably ruined, in which case, I'd have to find a different box to pack the monitor in, in order to return it.... Would I still be able to get a refund??

Some personal news: my wife and I have not been able to enter our apartment for more than a few minutes at a time since 12/23 due to #perlite dust #contamination which is similar to #fiberglass. Tara had to go to the #er for breathing problems and severe pain that night and we've been in hotels and hostels ever since. #advice welcome. Should we stop paying #rent? #landlord won't clean it so we're having to pay out of pocket.
