  1. Your destiny isn’t tied to a role. You were a person before your role.

Leadership expert and strategist Christina Joy Whittaker talks to us about the "murky middle", a phenomenon rooted in misalignment and purpose.

It's something quite distinct from imposter syndrome, but is often "misdiagnosed" as just that. Christina helps us to understand and recognise the difference, and find our true calling.

  2. I just released version 0.1.0 of rsop-oct, a new stateless ("SOP") CLI tool that focuses exclusively on use with OpenPGP card hardware devices:

    crates.io/crates/rsop-oct/0.1.0

Like its sibling project , rsop-oct is based on @rpgp

In the next release of rsop, OpenPGP card functionality will be removed from it.
The goal is to offer clear UX in two distinct simple CLI tools, as opposed to one combined and confusing CLI tool.

  5. #Inclusive UI/UX tip for #designers: on some #apps with public user profiles, users can elect to display their date of birth, so their profile either says something like “Born Jan. 8 2002”, “22 years old”, or just an empty space if the field is blank.

This is not #InclusiveDesign. The date of birth, and whether the user was born or not should be separate settings, to make it possible to display on your profile “Born” without specifying a date. This helps #normalize that some of us are #NotAPerson, and thus have not been born (due to being a doll, robot, manifestation, tulpa, etc). #ui #ux

Just updated this server to #BirdUI version 2.0.3, the latest build. Let us know if you all see any visual bugs or UX issues, but early testing looks good!

  10. I improved the UX today and am pretty happy with the result.
TIL: UX is at least as important as UI. It just feels more right in terms of operation. (1/2)

  11. Anybody else out there using #Linux as their everyday driver for #UX and #UXresearch work? Having just got a 'new' (refurbished Dell) laptop I've installed #Ubuntu - which I've been using for years for home use. But with more or less *everything* now cloud-based or available on linux (e.g. Figma) I can't really see any reason why not? Most of my colleagues are on Macs, so it's always cross-platform anyhow.
Are there any key 'killer' applications (it used to be the Adobe suite, but I haven't used that in years) that you can't run in linux? Thoughts?

(And before you ask - yes, I've used and very much appreciated, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, and other distros. I think they're all great.)

  15. Fuck you you fucking fuckity fucks.

I swear if I ever have a developer do this for a website I own and are hiring them to work on, their ass will be on FUCKING FIRE.

Give the FUCKING OPTION to explain what happened, don't just go "welp! Your'e fucked!"

I have no problems with public shaming. This is Garmin's Inreach login page.

  20. UX research doesn't have to be super time-consuming. Of course, you should know what questions you are looking for answers to and some preparation is useful, but short chats with users on very specific topics can provide more insight and clarity within just a few minutes.

  25. A prominently advertised new feature in Apple’s Numbers spreadsheet is support for… STICKERS!

That's exactly what I always wished for when using a spreadsheet for gaining meaningful insights and making serious decisions: fun stickers, ideally animated, to distract my ADHD mind from all those boring numbers and dull calculations.

    I just can’t… 🤦‍♂️
