  1. Most #ResearchOps certifications come from one author, one company, one market. This one was built inside a network of 32 consultancies, with almost two years of iteration. I wrote about how, and what the @UXalliance endorsement really means:

  5. Hoy he querido escribir sobre operaciones de investigación con usuarios (#ResearchOps) desde la perspectiva del liderazgo. Café para los muy cafeteros que tendrá un impacto reducido, pero que me parece de máxima importancia.

  10. Anybody else out there using #Linux as their everyday driver for #UX and #UXresearch work? Having just got a 'new' (refurbished Dell) laptop I've installed #Ubuntu - which I've been using for years for home use. But with more or less *everything* now cloud-based or available on linux (e.g. Figma) I can't really see any reason why not? Most of my colleagues are on Macs, so it's always cross-platform anyhow.
Are there any key 'killer' applications (it used to be the Adobe suite, but I haven't used that in years) that you can't run in linux? Thoughts?

(And before you ask - yes, I've used and very much appreciated, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, and other distros. I think they're all great.)

  12. I tagged research data over multiple years.

There was an unintended outcome of tagging ALL observations from every Agile sprint—rather than only tagging observations that related to the current sprint's research focus…

As time passed, some of the qualitative data became quantitative as the sample size grew.

  14. I did user research on an Agile team for a few years. I tagged ALL observations, not just those about any sprint's key questions.

As the product team evolved its focus, I was able to slice and dice my data to answer questions we hadn't yet formally asked.

Each time, I could leapfrog the first study into informed follow-up studies.

In the long run, extra Time Tagging = Time Saved when starting a new product direction.

  16. New issue of Quiet Stories is out on Monday!

Still time to subscribe and read the last issue which pointed to some great articles on The Futures Wheel, #Craft, Using #ResearchOps to ignite your #ContinuousDiscovery Practice, #Design Charrettes, and more!

  18. 1️⃣ ⚡️ Working with a multinational energy company on implementing foundational Research Operation (#ResearchOps) functions to support activities run across multiple regions.

2️⃣ 🌱 Working with Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs / Defra digital, data and technology on a project looking at waste reduction and the #CircularEconomy.

  19. After finishing a project with a ⚡️ major multinational company where I helped put in place some foundational ⚙️ #ResearchOps structures and processes - I’m now looking for my next #Contract role.

If you’re looking for #UX #Research or #ResearchOps support across a range of sectors, it would be great to talk. 🙂

  20. I've noticed on a few recent #ResearchOps related projects with clients—when reviewing 🔀 process flows—they often don't include decision 🔛 gates.

The stages in the #Research process where a Go/No Go/Defer decision can be made to ensure the research is still of value.

Knowing when not to conduct research is as important as knowing when it is essential.

  21. Another few days on-site with a client delivering training, mentoring and #UX #Research Team support as part of a #ResearchOps project.

Always good to work with new people but, as always, happy to be returning 🏡 home to #Yorkshire. 🙂

  22. A really interesting look at how the RNID have been building, structuring and developing their #UX #Research User Insights 🗄 Library.

Great to see more of this work being put out in the open for others to learn from and make use of. 🙂

  23. After working with a great Team on a flagship Government 🌱 #Environment/♻️ #CircularEconomy project, I’m now looking for my next role.

    I’ve;

    • Grown/Led a UCD/Research Team.
    • Helped define a set of ethical, participant focused #ResearchOps procedures.
    • Successfully helped navigate a GDS Service Standards Assessments.
    • Helped launch a live Government service.

If you're looking for a Lead/Senior Researcher/Designer with experience across the 🏛 Public and 🏢 Private sectors, let's talk.

Isolinear Chip hotfix system update has enabled a new query keyword.

Current and prospective members of Starfleet may now query for user research postings with the keyword "user research".

Tl;dr: my hot take 🔥 is that VC-backed walled-garden research platforms are unsustainable places to park critical knowledge, and ultimately foreclose opportunities to collectively advance our crafts of research and operations. BUT researchers + ReOps practitioners are in the right place at the right time to push software companies towards a future of openness & interoperability.

    Let's do this!
