Very well deserved. I feel more assured that #newsmast as a good steward of the #indiewebSocial community was a very solid steward, and they are doing great work for the #OpenSocialWeb.

Discovered Terry's writing elsewhere and found his account and only then realied he was on the server myself and others founded.

@tg is very much worth a follow regarding #openweb #Indieweb #calmtech and more.

FYI, continually happy to see #indiewebsocial as a server continue to be a thriving social home for this many folks as it recently crossed 12,000 registered accounts and with a thriving and growing activty base. Just happy to be here.

Hi everyone. There was an outage at IndieWeb.social today, which meant that the site couldn't load.

This was caused by a problem at OVHcloud, the cloud service behind our host, masto.host.

Thanks for your patience with this, we appreciate that it was frustrating. We always want the service to be up, but these things happen sometimes.

So as many of you saw, IndieWeb.social had a bit of an outage today.

This was not isolated to just our server but the hosting provider @mastohost. And really no fault of their own. This stuff happens.

Thanks for your patience with this.

We always want the service to be up. But hopefully during the downtime we all got to touch some grass and get other things done!

I always thought it was odd that everything the #IndieWeb org and #IndieWebSocial guys seemed to advocate for had to do with making it easier for bots to identify you.

Then when they celebrated #Threads adopting rel=me links I knew what their game was.

#Admin #IndiewebSocial As of noon EST today we will be blocking the federating account @whitehouse & watching the @Potus acount which at the moment is no longer federating. We do this out of concern of harasment for our users.

IMPORTANT: New Policy... A few days ago, I expressed concern over Meta’s new fact-checking and content moderation policies. When Threads announced its move to the Fedi over a year ago, we chose not to take preemptive action. Instead, we saw that we had all the tools needed for proportional responses to potential threats to keep our folks safe. And as we stated then, we would treat Threads.net like any other Fediverse server.

We watch the Meta changes in factchecking, moderation policy, etc, with concern. But this is still true:

"We have all the tools we need for that [protecting our users] ...And if we find ANY server not responsive THEN we block. Protecting our users is our 1st job but we have all we need - without first strike defederation."

That said: If we see ANY abuse of our users from #Threads accounts we will not hesitate to take any actions needed.

- About 160 average support tickets resolved per month
- Over 250 Patreon members supporting the server
