Thinking Machines Lab announced research preview of "interaction models", which was trained from-scratch for real-time multimodal collaboration, 200ms micro-turns, audio+video+text+tools concurrent. Their bet: today's chat UX fits "answering inference", not collaboration, so capable AI defaults to autonomous use and looks like labor substitution. Could we change the debate by changing the UI/UX?

The train's automated PA system just announced that we're waiting for a green light. That's great, but what bugs me is that preceding the announcement were the same three dings that come before the announcement of the next station. From a UI point of view that's not great. Keep standard station announcements and important information under separate notification sounds, please.

Yesterday I had the great pleasure to attend a documentary screening and panel session where Prof. #FredericoFaggin was the guest of honour. This was organised by the #Italian Luxembourg Chamber of Commmerce and introduced by the Italian Ambassador to #Luxembourg. #Faggin invented the #microprocessor and designed the #4004 #8008 #8080 #z80 and later on via #synaptics #touchscreens and #touchpads .He is a true #pioneer

Thinking Machines Lab is redesigning AI models around 200ms interaction chunks rather than the prompt-wait-response cycle. The shift treats real-time collaboration as a core architecture problem, not a wrapper layer. Implications for audio, video, and interruption handling remain to be tested.

I currently have to use a #Windows11 PC with #Office365 for a side gig. And holy crap, does that put all my (still valid, IMHO) complaining about #macOS26 and #LiquidGlass into perspective.
There is so much wrong with Windows’ interaction design, I just cannot comprehend how a company with that kind of resources can ship… this.
I still hope that Apple will get their act together, now that an actual #UX whiz is in charge of their #HCI. Windows, though, definitely is no viable alternative.

@MartinEscardo Mostly because almost anything nowadays goes over the #Internet which is still adding substantial delay because of extremely inefficient #programming, sometimes causing hundreds of requests for one single user interaction.

Back in the old days, we had software that was much more optimized on algorithm level, less layers, everything local since network connection was a rare thing to have. 👴
