Did you know that #Inkscape is the biggest project on #GitLab after the gitlab codebase itself?
After moving from #launchpad and #bzr, we don't have the energy to move the project again. So it looks like we'll be putting up with whatever GitLab decides to do to us.
A large complicated and, ingrown project like ours would need some very special attention to move. Unfortunately.

Dear real internet.
Because search is so terrible and failing me: do you know of any LibreOffice Calc ChartType Add-ins?
Basically the selection of chart types is pretty rotten and I'd like to be able to generate other things.
But I can't find anything.
And it would surprise me greatly if such a customisation had never been achieved before. Especially since the in built options are so basic.

#Swapped got mediocre reviews compared to #Hoppers;
I dissent.
The basic story is pedestrian, yes; but it gets significant points for being visually inventive, discusses in-group/out-group, immigration (stop the boats!), the pain we inflict on each other and how to achieve forgiveness for being a part of a structural problem, not just an individual wrong.
I also enjoyed some smaller writing components that bucked tropes, but could easily be overlooked in a rush to dismiss the #film

Then what kind of pie to do? It needed to be very easy to make; while being quintessentially British and not something Americans have seen before
Butter Pie!
A N. British pie with potato, onion, butter and pepper. That's it!
So I spent today with a hair net on making and teaching pie making in a commercial kitchen.

Got my little feature I stayed up too late last night merged into #inkscape Hurrah.
It's mostly useful for CnC and Sewing pattern type work and I'm interested in those users testing it out. @Triffen was this one of your use cases?

The PSF have enough reputation with me personally that I'm not concerned.
If you have the opportunity to steal a couple of million from the Barrons and in turn offer them basically nothing. then that is *good actually*
It would be useful to scrutinise the text of the agreement as that is where the legal traps are that would force the PSF to do silly things that harm the community.
i.e. Take their money and damn their eyes.

I'm having a really hard time pulling out all the tentacles of Inkscape's rendering engine. We use it for so many things and in such weird ways each new feature added with a cursed API. Icons, previews, copy and paste, png generation, canavas, cursors...
At what point should I just carve out a new namespace and copy the code into new files and work from that?

I have levelled up manual dish washing. The next level unlocks using a toothbrush to clean cheese graters. It's way easier, less painful and you can get inside those pyramid graters and the bristles are robust enough to last.
That goes alongside my bottle brush, straw brush, bigger straw brush and micro straw brush for a full set of sink tools.

Do #linguists note the word "Boycott" as an interesting curiosity in how we didn't have a word for this concept, then your man Boycott comes along and the word got sucked into not just English, but also every other language. Almost as if the thing couldn't exist properly without the word first being invented.
Are there other examples of words being invented and being so aggressively adopted into many other languages? "Orange" maybe?

My wife @teruterubozu has been making "ribs" from these carved wooden bones she bought and a fake meat recipe.
When shown the food, my daughter @Luna_vio calls them "fake ribs" or "fibs"
And, you know my punning here on mastodon. That's an awesome name for a vegetarian rib! ❤️

Sometimes companies ask me to meet with them, to advise them on Inkscape, or SVG and maybe they have questions about contributing to Inkscape.
I always charge an upfront fee.
I can't have my advice clouded by the prospect that *maybe* I'll get work, or maybe the project will make sense to use Inskcape. I need to be able to advise that you hire someone else in the community who has the right skills or is nearer physically. Or advise you don't use Inkscape at all.

Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I complained that a very large #python contribution to #inkscape was poorly formatted and I felt embarrassed about pushing back and asking them to run a linter over it?
Yeah I'm not fucking embarrassed now, I'm furious. 🤬
Update: Apparently they meant a small section of it was, not the whole MR. I'm annoyed, but I'll have to take them at their word.

Regarding #matrix news. Anyone who thinks about contributing to a CLA (contributor license agreement) project under the GPL. Here is my checklist:
1. Is it multi-stakeholder (more than one group or people hold the copyright)
2. Is the CLA requester a Free Software non-profit?
3. Is this anything more than a drive by contribution?If it's a single stakeholder VC corporation and I'm planning on using this thing more than once. You can have my code contribution in exchange for money.
