For me it goes beyond debian having or not ai generated code. It makes a diference if rules allow it. Independent of the difficulty on controlling the implementation of rules.

There are moral limits, ofc different for everybody, and it is not because they are impossible or close to impossible to control that those moral limits or imperatived change. The impossibility to control, was btw an argument against proper legislation, back in the days, on domestic violence and genital mutilation.

For me it is about debian choosing to relax a moral principle. We all know from history what happens to entities that only stick to rules and ethics when things are easy. More concessions will come. I lost trust in the moral compass and usually after one concession many others come.

I could live with: the rule is this, and there is atm no way to enforce it. So shame on cheaters, but this is what we believe.
