Did you know that #Inkscape is the biggest project on #GitLab after the gitlab codebase itself?

After moving from #launchpad and #bzr, we don't have the energy to move the project again. So it looks like we'll be putting up with whatever GitLab decides to do to us.

A large complicated and, ingrown project like ours would need some very special attention to move. Unfortunately.

Sad to see #Launchpad is dropping #Bazaar (#bzr) support - probably the last thing that set it apart from other code hosting solutions like GitHub.

At this point, it should just remove the support for hosting upstream projects altogether considering all #Canonical projects are actually on GitHub, and Launchpad is just the Ubuntu build system / bug tracker.

This is further exemplified by the fact that they announced this only on an #Ubuntu community forum.

I think it all is a good argument to have your content publicly available under some kind of #versionControlSystem such as for instance #git, #bzr or #mercurial, so people can just submit patches.

I guess what we're missing is easy front ends for less tech-savvy contributers, especially in the form of plugins for #wordpress and #blogger.
