📍 Corneliusbrücke, 80469 MünchenAuf Höhe der Boschbrücke parken seit mehreren Wochen wochentags zur Arbeitszeit eine Vielzahl an PKW's und kleinen Transportern auf dem Fußweg parallel zur Isar. Das Parken oder auch nur befahren des Fuß- und Radweges ist hier schlichtweg nicht erlaubt - zudem stellt es eine erhebliche Gefahr für Radfahrende und Fußgänger dar, aufgrund der eingeengten Verhältnisse sowie schlechten Einsehbarkeit. Mit dringender Bitte an dieser Stelle hier zeitnah und regelmäßig zu kontrollieren. Und entsprechende Maßnahmen und Ahndungen (Strafzettel, Ansprachen, Abschleppen) wirksam durchzusetzen. Bleef Paulus in Rome? (2)
Paulus (Teseum, Tongeren)In het vorige blogje legde ik uit dat het archeologisch onderzoek onder de Sint-Paulus buiten de Muren niet hielp om vast te stellen of Paulus na zijn gevangenschap in Rome in die stad was gebleven. De traditie geeft echter een duidelijk antwoord: Paulus is onthoofd tijdens de vervolging door Nero, die plaatsvond na de grote brand van Rome. Die woedde in de zomer van 64 en afgaand op het verslag van Publius Cornelius Tacitus liet de keizer enkele christenen levend verbranden. De bevolking, voegt Tacitus toe, was verontwaardigd over deze onmenselijke straf. Er is geen vermelding van Paulus.
Clemens en Ignatius: geen Rome, geen Nero
De marteldood van Paulus is echter in een oude bron vermeld: de Eerste Brief van Clemens. Die dateert vermoedelijk uit de laatste jaren van de eerste eeuw, misschien een tikje later.
Door jaloezie en afgunst werden de grootste en rechtvaardigste steunpilaren van de kerk vervolgd en vochten zij tot de dood toe. Laten we de goede apostelen voor ogen houden: Petrus, die vanwege onrechtvaardige jaloezie niet één of twee, maar vele beproevingen onderging, en nadat hij zo zijn getuigenis had afgelegd, naar de glorieuze plaats ging die hem toekwam. Door jaloezie en strijd wees Paulus de weg naar de prijs van volharding; zevenmaal zat hij in de boeien, hij werd verbannen, hij werd gestenigd, hij was een verkondiger zowel in het Oosten als in het Westen, hij verwierf de edele roem van zijn geloof, hij onderwees de hele wereld in gerechtigheid, en toen hij de grenzen van het Westen had bereikt, legde hij zijn getuigenis af voor de heersers, en zo verliet hij de wereld en werd hij opgenomen in de Heilige Plaats, het grootste voorbeeld van volharding.noot 1 Clemens 5.2-7.
Deze christelijke auteur, één generatie na de gebeurtenis, kon het martelaarschap van Paulus dus bekend veronderstellen. Maar Clemens noemt noch Rome, noch Nero, en als je alleen de twee Bijbelteksten zou kennen die ik aanhaalde in de eerste alinea van het vorige blogje, zou je concluderen dat Paulus verder is gereisd naar Spanje en daar aan zijn einde gekomen.
Iets jonger (vermoedelijk) is de Brief aan de Romeinen van Ignatius van Antiochië, die in Syrië gevangen is genomen en op transport is gezet naar Rome. De arrestant schrijft dat hij hoopt door de beesten te worden verscheurd en zegt verder dat hij zijn Romeinse penvrienden geen instructies zal geven, zoals Petrus en Paulus deden. De vergelijking impliceert dat de apostelen zijn gemarteld, en dat de ontvangers van de brief dat wisten. Het enige dat dus vaststaat is dat ten tijde van Domitianus en Trajanus bekend kon worden verondersteld dat Paulus gewelddadig ter dood was gebracht.
Het begin van de traditie
We moeten, als ik het goed zie, ongeveer driekwart eeuw wachten op de volgende aanwijzing: de tekst die bekendstaat als Handelingen van Paulus. Deze tekst is fragmentarisch bekend, maar het slot is overgeleverd en bevat voor het eerst de elementen die we herkennen uit de latere traditie: Paulus is in Rome, waar hij op last van Nero wordt onthoofd. De aanleiding is dat hij een hoveling uit de dood heeft opgewekt (het verhaal is een kopie van een incident genoemd in de Handelingen van de Apostelennoot Handelingen 20.9.) waarna Nero onderzoek instelt. Paulus legt uit dat de wereld door vuur zal worden verwoest (ekpyrosis), waarop Nero de apostel laat onthoofden en enkele christelijke soldaten laat verbranden. Sommige Romeinen protesteren. Daarna verschijnt Paulus nog eens aan Nero en diens hoffilosofen en ook aan enkele rouwende christenen.noot Handelingen van Paulus 10. Hier ontstaat dus de traditie, en over de datering weten we alleen dat deze tekst kort voor 200 is geschreven, aangezien Tertullianus de tekst, volgens hem recent gepubliceerd, veroordeelt.
Even later, begin derde eeuw, is er een kort fragment van Gaius, dat wordt geciteerd in de Kerkgeschiedenis van Eusebios van Caesarea. Ik heb het al eens eerder vermeld:
Ik kan je de trofeeën van de apostelen aanwijzen. Als je de moeite neemt de Vaticaanse Weg of de weg naar Ostia te nemen, zul je de trofeeën zien van degenen die de kerk stichtten.
Dit is consistent met de locatie van de twee basilieken, de Sint-Pieter en de Sint-Paulus. Ik zie geen reden te betwijfelen dat Constantijn de Grote de kerken heeft laten bouwen op plaatsen die in de tweede eeuw al werden vereerd.
Impasse
Toen ik dit blogje begon te schrijven, ging ik ervan uit dat de interpretatie er een zou zijn zoals die rond Petrus in Rome: eigenlijk weten we alleen dat hij ter dood is gebracht, maar naarmate de tijd verstrijkt, worden de verhalen steeds preciezer. Mensen waren ontevreden met het weinige dat ze wisten en voegden steeds meer details toe. Die interpretatierichting maakt Petrus’ verblijf in Rome net zo verdacht als de steeds nauwkeurigere locatie van Tartessos en de groei van het sprookje van Archimedes’ brandspiegels. Ik vermoedde dat het met Paulus niet anders zou zijn: steeds meer details en de verdenking dat alles bedacht is door mensen die ontevreden waren over het weinige dat ze wél wisten. Zo werkt legendevorming nou eenmaal.
Maar nu ik eens rustig kijk naar de Handelingen van Paulus, krijg ik toch een andere indruk. De auteur van die late bron lijkt onafhankelijk van Tacitus een herinnering te bewaren aan een gebeurtenis waarbij Nero enkele christenen liet verbranden en de stedelijke bevolking protesteerde. De auteur van de Handelingen van Paulus lijkt niets te weten van de stadsbrand en verklaart de vorm van de executies daarom vanuit Paulus’ aankondiging van een wereldbrand. We hebben, lijkt mij, minimaal een onafhankelijke traditie voor Nero’s executies.
Dat maakt de opmerking dat ook Paulus toen om het leven kwam, misschien net een tikje plausibeler. Deze auteur wist blijkbaar iets over de gebeurtenissen van een eeuw daarvoor. Het is echter geen doorslaggevend bewijs voor Paulus’ dood in Rome.
Pleit dit vóór de traditie, er pleit ook iets tegen. Het gebeente in de sarcofaag is te jong. Dat betekent dat er in de tweede eeuw geen herinnering was aan het feitelijke graf. Het kan dus zijn dat Paulus is gedood in Spanje, want 1 Clemens laat zich moeilijk anders lezen. Het kan echter óók zijn dat Clemens die westelijke dood vermeldde omdat hij had gelezen dat Paulus het voornemen had naar Spanje te reizen.
De conclusie van deze twee blogjes is dus dat we niet kunnen aannemen dat Paulus ten tijde van Nero in Rome is gedood, maar dat we ook niet kunnen aannemen dat het niet zo was. Zoals zo vaak: we weten het niet.

Vincent de Paul (April 24, 1581-September 27, 1660; 79 years old at the time of his passing) was a French Catholic priest who dedicated himself to serving the poor & is best known for founding the Congregation of the Mission & Daughters of Charity.
After being ordained a priest in 1600, de Paul was kidnapped/adult-napped (he was 19 years old at the time) & enslaved for 2 years in Tunis (This was a semi-autonomous territory of the Ottoman Empire; it’s in modern-day Tunisia). He returned to Europe after escaping in 1607 (26 years old at the time).
He then served as a parish priest & in the French royal court before dedicating himself to the poor, founding the Ladies of Charity in 1617 (36 years old at the time). In 1622, de Paul was appointed as chaplain to the galley slaves in Paris.
De Paul founded the Congregation of the Mission (a.k.a. the Vincentians or Lazarists) in 1625 (44 years old). Having vowed poverty, chastity, obedience, & stability, they were to devote themselves entirely to people in smaller towns/villages.
He was a pioneer in seminary education & also founded the Daughters of Charity in 1633 (52 years old). He’s the namesake of the Vincentian Family of organizations, which includes the religious order he founded, among others.
He was renowned for his compassion, humility, & generosity. He was canonized in 1737. He was venerated as a saint in both the Catholic Church & the Anglican Communion.
Vincent de Paul was born on April 24, 1581, in the village of Pouy, in the province of Guyenne & Gascony, Kingdom of France, to peasant farmers. His dad was Jean de Paul & his mom was Bertrande de Moras. He wrote the name on 1 word, Depaul, but none of his correspondents did so.
He had 3 brothers & 2 sisters. He was the 3rd child & demonstrated a talent for literacy early in life. He worked as a child, herding his family’s livestock. At age 15, his dad sent him to a seminary. He paid for this by selling the family’s oxen.
For 3 years, he studied at a college in Dax, Aquitaine. It adjoined a monastery of the Friars Minor (a.k.a. the Franciscans), where he resided. In 1597, he enrolled in theology at the University of Toulouse. The atmosphere at the university was rough. Fights broke out between various factions of students, which escalated into armed battles. An official was murdered by 2 students. Vincent continued his studies, financing them by tutoring others.
Vincent was ordained subdeacon & deacon at Tarbes Cathedral in the French Great South-West, near Périgueux. This was against the regulations established by the Council of Trent, which required a minimum of 24 years old for ordination. So when he was appointed parish priest in Tilh. An appeal against the appointment was made to the Roman Curia.
Rather than respond to a lawsuit in which he would probably not have prevailed, he resigned from the position & continued his studies. On October 12, 1604, he received his Bachelor of Theology from the University of Toulouse. Later, he received a Licentiate in Canon Law from the University of Paris.
Vincent wrote a letter in July 1607 & a postscript in February 1608 that described his experience of abduction & slavery. In 1605, he sailed from Marseille on his way back from Castres, where he had gone to sell property he’d inherited from a wealthy patron in Toulouse. He was taken captive by Barbary pirates, who took him to Tunis. Vincent was auctioned off as a slave, & spent 2 years in bondage.
His 1st “master” was a fisherman. But this wasn’t the life for Vincent because he got seasick. He soon was sold. His next “master” was a spagyric physician (this is a modern medical movement based on the theories & therapies of Paracelsus), alchemist, & inventor. Vincent became fascinated by his art & was taught how to prepare the attention of men who summoned him to Istanbul.
During the passage, the old man died & Vincent was sold once again. His new “master” was a former Catholic priest & Franciscan from Nice, Guillaume Gautier. Gautier had converted to Islam to gain his freedom from slavery & was living in the mountains with 3 wives.
The 2nd wife, a Muslim by birth, was drawn to & visited Vincent in the fields to question him about his faith. She became convinced that his faith was true & admonished her husband for renouncing his Christianity. Her husband became remorseful & decided to escape back to France with his slave.
They had to wait 10 months. But finally they secretly boarded a small boat & crossed the Mediterranean, landing in Aigues-Mortes on June 29, 1607. After returning to France, Vincent went to Rome. There he continued his studies until 1609, when he was sent back to France on a mission to King Henry IV.
Once in France, he made the acquaintance of Pierre de Berulle, whom he took as his spiritual advisor. Andre Duval, of the Sorbonne, introduced him to Canfield’s Rule of Perfection.
In 1612, he was sent as a parish priest to the Church of Saint-Medard in Clichy. In less than a year, Berulle recalled him to Paris to serve as a chaplain & tutor to the Gondi family. The Gondi family was a prominent Florentine banking family and a financial partner of the Medici family.
Although Vincent had initially begun his priesthood with the intention of securing a life of leisure for himself, he underwent a change of heart after hearing the confession of a dying peasant. It was the Countess de Gondi who persuaded her husband to endow & support a group of able & zealous missionaries who would work among poor tenant farmers & country people in general.
On May 23, 1643, after King Louis XIII had passed away, Queen Anne had her husband’s will annulled by the Parlement de Paul (a judicial body composed mostly of nobles & high clergymen), thereby making her the sole Regent. Anne appointed Vincent de Paul as her spiritual advisor.
He helped her deal with religious policy & the Jansenist issue. Jansenism is/was a 17th-18th century Christian theological movement within the Catholic Church, rooted in the writings of Dutch bishop Cornelius Jansen.
Vincent is the patron of all works of charity. Several organizations inspired by his work & teaching & which claim Vincent as their founder or patron saint are grouped in a loose federation known as the Vincentian Family.
Vincent died in Paris on September 27, 1660. Vincent’s body was exhumed in 1712, 53 years after his death. The written account of an eyewitness states that “the eyes & nose alone showed some decay.” However, when the body was exhumed again during the canonization in 1737, it was found to have decomposed due to an underground flood.
According to the custom of the time, his bones were encased in a waxen figure, which is displayed in a glass reliquary in the chapel of the mother house of the Vincentian fathers in Paris (the St. Vincent de Paul Chapel). His heart is still incorrupt & is displayed separately in a reliquary in the chapel of the mother house of the Daughters of Charity.

Intitolata S. Rosaliae Virginis Panormitanae Pestis Patronæ iconibus expressa, incisore Cornelius Galle, Antwerp (Anversa), l’incisione è stata individuata nel fondo di libri antichi custodito nella Biblioteca del Palazzo dai professori Maria Concetta Di Natale e Sergio Intorre.

It isn’t where you think it is: the thread about the”Dean Village” and an 18th-century revolutionary plot
It is probably the second most instagrammable vista in Edinburgh (after that lane), but what is this place actually called – and why?
The second most heavily instagrammed vista in Edinburgh?“Dinnae be a dafty, Andy” I hear you say. “We all know that’s the Dean Village. Ask anyone in town. No ifs. No buts. Away to bed with you. ” Refreshing our local history, the story goes King David I gives the rights and profits of the mills in the “dene” or “dean” (gorge) of the Water of Leith to Holyrood Abbey in the 12th century, a village grows up around the mills and that becomes the Dean Village. Right? But what if, for most of its very long recorded history, what if… What if it wasn’t?
That a village did grow up around the mills of the Dean is indisputable, but it was never, ever referred to as the Dean Village until the late 19th century, and to the locals it never was until well into the 20th century. And what if I told you that the Dean Village, (or Village of Dean to give it its proper name) was actually some place else? Because, actually it was.
The earliest map that records this location is the anonymous map of the Siege of Leith of 1560 – likely produced by Richard Lees, an English military officer and surveyor. The captions are almost illegible in the publicly available copy, but the yellow one is “Com’on Mylles” and the blue one is “The De’nne“. So far so good; we have mills on the Water of Leith and a village nearby. But note that the village is actually up the hill and removed from the Mills.

The name of the village that grew up around the mills in the gorge wasn’t the Dean Village at all, it was simply Water of Leith, or the Village of the Water of Leith. Adair records it as such in 1682, in amongst the collection of mills, again north of Coates and south of Canonmills.

For hundreds of years these were two distinct villages, which are now little more than quaint little urban neighbourhoods, but the name of the former migrated itself down the hill to become attached to the other.

Reproduced with the permission of the National Library of ScotlandI shall call the higher level settlement the Village of Dean, so as to try and not get too confused, and it is now entirely gone in all but name, but it did leave behind some intriguing history. Malcolm Cant’s book on the Villages of Edinburgh gives a description. The village is aligned on the Dean Path (at that time long the principal “road” north out the city heading to Queensferry via Cramond, crossing the river at a ford and later a bridge in Water of Leith village). It was a few small lanes but had a population of 400 in the mid-18th century. The village was mainly single storey, thatched-roof cottages, but some extended to two, with the upper accessed in the traditional manner by an external staircase. The inhabitants were carters and quarriers of the Inverleith sandstones and farm labourers of the Barony of Dean.

The “Village of Dean” is in the background on the high ground © Museums & Galleries EdinburghFor facilities, there was a smithy, a cartwright, a cordiner (the Scots term for a shoemaker), a small school and a tavern run by “Mrs Burr”, with a sign above the door with a picture of a horse and cart and which read “Lang May the Wheel Row“. The village was dominated by the House of Dean, a vast 17th century tower-house-cum-mansion inhabited by the Nisbets (Dean Baronets), wealthy merchants who counted Lord Provosts and even Poulterer to the King in their family tree.

Long story short, it was demolished in 1845 to make way for the Dean Cemetery, but some of its ornate painted interiors and plenty of carved stonework survives. By this time the Nisbet’s lands of Dean were owned by another Provost, John Learmonth, and it was he who successfully proposed the Dean Bridge to cross the Dean Gorge and open up (his) lands for construction of plush new suburbs north of the New Town.

That seems to have disappeared quite quickly between 1831 when its position is shown on the Great Reform Act maps, and 1849 when it’s missing from that last OS Town Plan above. A simple village for simple folk, we might never have known any more if it wasn’t for the curious tale of one of its blacksmiths. Enter stage right Robert Orrock (or Orrok, an old Fife name derived from an ancient Norman landowner, Symon de Oroc).
Orrock was the village smithie in the 1790s and was deeply interested in political reform under the influence of the French revolution and also in Scotland a lingering feeling of political disenchantment following the Act of Union (sound familiar?). In the 1790s in England, reform-minded Whigs began to set up a group called the “Society of Friends of the People“, a sort of gentlemens’ political debating club by invite.
Georgian cartoon of 1792 caricaturing George Tierney of the Society of the Friends of the People as a French revolutionary at the guillotine.In Scotland, and mainly around Edinburgh, the similarly minded and sounding “The Friends of the People Society” was an altogether different organisation, largely composed of the more skilled and higher status working classes like shopkeepers, artisans and the trades. The Friends of the People also attracted writers (solicitors) and advocates (barristers) and church ministers to their ranks, and in 1792 and 1793 they held three “general conventions”, which grew increasingly radical and saw the more learned and middle class members drift away.
Robert Orrock became involved in the last and most radical of these conventions, the “British Convention“, where members of some of the English societies were invited to Edinburgh to attend. The Convention’s goals were universal male suffrage and annual free elections. Amongst their hundred or so attendees they included the local legend that was “Balloon Tytler“, James Tytler, the man of the Great Edinburgh Fire Balloon who made the first flight in the British Isles.

When asked what he was working so hard on he would reply he was “making ornamentations for a gentleman’s gate“. Except, he wasn’t. Those long metal spikes weren’t for a gate. He was making pike heads! To be precise, he was making four thousand pike heads! Orrock was in a small faction of the Friends who had decided that they might need to follow the French example and undertake revolution if they wanted the change they desired.
The plan was simple. Once Orrock had made enough pike heads and they were assembled into weapons, the old excise office would be set alight to draw out the castle garrison. Once they had exited the castle, another fire would be lit behind them to block their retreat and the conspirators would then rush the depleted castle and take control. With the castle under control and the masses (hopefully) flocking to be equipped for revolution from its armory, the city and the reins of power of the Scottish administration would be seized by quelling the town guard, rounding up the judges and the magistrates, and requisitioning the banks. All “country gentlemen” within 3 miles of Edinburgh were to be ordered to “keep within their houses” on pain of death.
While this might seem fanciful to us, the 18th Century “Edinburgh Mob” was notorious and more than capable of taking the law into its own hands and overpowering the City Guard when required. This included lynching its Captain in 1736 when they feared he would evade justice for ordering his men to fire into a crowd.
The Porteous Riot of 1736 in the Grassmarket by James Skene. © Edinburgh City LibrariesThe plan came to nothing however, Orrock’s stash of weapons had been uncovered by the sheriff’s men when only 40 were complete and he turned crown evidence to save his own skin. The Convention itself was broken up by the authorities, terrified of revolution, and five of its leaders and principal spokesmen (2 Scots and 3 English) arrested, tried for sedition and sentenced to transportation. They are commemorated by the Martyrs Monument on Calton Hill.

Watt was executed but Downie was pardoned in 1795 on sentence of a further year in jail and self-banishment from Great Britain. Neither Orrock or any of the others were tried. As if to labour my point, one of his conspirators who also appeared for the Crown as a witness was one Arthur Macewan, a weaver from “Water of Leith”. What became of the revolutionary, turned blacksmith, turned turncoat, Robert Orrock, is not recorded in my book. He was ordered to be released in December 1794, and a Robert Orrock died in Edinburgh in 1806, age unknown, which could be him.
And how did the Water of Leith Village become to be known as the Dean Village? Well apparently its use was first recorded as such in 1884 in reference to Well Court, that beautiful model workers housing scheme built by John Ritchie Findlay of the Scotsman.

Hände weg von der Fernbedienung! – Der 3Sat Publikumspreis 2023
Wenn sie sich, wie ich, für intelligente, nicht durchformatierte, künstlerisch, kreative und jeweils einzigartige Fernsehfilme begeistern können, dann habe ich einen Programmhinweis: Stellen sie ihren Fernseher auf @3Sat und legen sie ihre Fernbedienung für 4 Tage in den Kühlschrank. Sie werden sie nicht vermissen!
Es ist manchmal unfair, wie die Sendeanstalten ihre Zuschauer:innen behandeln. Da gibt es, oft über Wochen, wenn nicht Monate, dauernde Ebbe, Windstille, Wüste in den Mediatheken – und dann hauen sie im Abstand von nur wenigen Stunden, gleich dutzende Mediathekperlen heraus, dass der Speicherplatz auf der Festplatte knapp wird und ein Wochenende zu kurz, um alles zu sehen.
Die „Profis“ der Branche, haben es besser. Sie fahren für vier Tage nach Baden-Baden, feiern ihre Branche und sich selbst, und schließen sich im Kurhaus ein, um all die Filme sehen zu können, die sie über das Jahr verpasst haben. Das Fest hat einen Namen: TeleVisionale – Film- und Serienfestival Baden-Baden und existiert schon seit 1964.
Eine selbstreferentielle geschlossene Gesellschaft?
Am Ende verleiht eine wechselnde Jury, unter anderen, den „Fernsehfilmpreis der Deutschen Akademie der Darstellenden Künste„. Für diese Preise können sich die Kreativen nicht wirklich etwas kaufen – Geld gibt es dafür nicht. Doch natürlich ist eine solche Auszeichnung ein oft gewinnendes Argument, gilt es neue Mittel für ihr nächstes Projekt zu akquirieren, zu den Castings für die nächste Rolle eingeladen zu werden, oder eine Redaktion (nicht nur, aber insbesondere) öffentlich-rechtlicher Bedenkenträger:innen davon zu überzeugen, mit einem Film auch mal wieder ein Risiko einzugehen und nicht nur auf die Quoten in der werberelevanten Zielgruppe zu starren.
Weil solche „Festivals“ natürlich immer auch eine ziemlich selbstreferentielle „Geschlossene Gesellschaft“ sind – und die Entscheidungen ihrer Jurys eben nur den Konsens ihrer selbst repräsentieren, feiere ich den 3Sat-Publikumspreis sehr für die Demokratisierung dieser Filmpreise. Noch mehr feiere ich ihn aber dafür, dass der Sender (fast) alle der Filme auch wieder in den Mediatheken verfügbar macht – und wir also downloaden können, was wir verpasst haben – und was die Festplattenkapazität gerade noch hergibt. Und Abstimmen. Natürlich!
Eine schwere Entscheidung?!
Ich könnte das nicht. Ich könnte mich nicht entscheiden, auf welchen der vorgeschlagenen Filme ich mich festlegen sollte. Natürlich liebe ich Bjarne Mädels und Sven Strickers „Sörensen„, doch haben die beiden den Preis schon 2021 mit nach Hause nehmen dürfen. Noch ganz verliebt bin ich in Verena Altenberger, die gleich an zwei Produktionen beteiligt war. Ihr Abschied aus dem Münchener Polizeiruf 110 schmerzt noch immer. Doch wenn das der Preis dafür war, dass sie und Dominik Graf uns die Geschichte von Christina Wolffhardt erzählen konnten, dann nehme ich das gerne in Kauf.
Auch die beiden Charakterbolid:innen Joachim Król und Désirée Nosbusch im rumänischen Unterholz, oder die laufende Anna Schudt – ich könnte mich nicht entscheiden.
Mehr mitgenommen, als jeder andere Film aus dem Programm hat mich sicher „Kalt“, von Stephan Lacant. Das lag vor allem an der überirdisch großartigen Franziska Hartmann und der Alltagsgeschichte, die bei uns zuhause tatsächlich Urängste und Instinkte geweckt hat, die wir erst ein paar Tage verarbeiten mussten. Ein Beweis dafür, wie ein wirklich guter Fernsehfilm wirken kann. Auch und gerade weil dafür nur bescheidene TV-Mittel und keine Budgets aus Hollywood zur Verfügung standen.
Es liegt nun an ihnen. Stimmen sie ab! Auch damit tatsächlich deutlich wird, dass „wir“, das gemeine Publikum, diese besonderen Filme der Massenware vorziehen, die uns den Rest des Jahres die Kanäle verstopft.
Denn dafür haben wir bezahlt!

Die 37-jährige Christina verliebt sich zu ihrem eigenen Erstaunen in den 20-jährigen Patrick, der heftig um sie wirbt. Je länger sie mit ihm zusammen ist, desto mehr Ähnlichkeit entdeckt sie zwischen ihm und ihrer ersten Liebe Jacob. Er starb, als Christina noch ein Teenager war. Sie glaubt immer mehr, dass Patrick Jacobs Wiedergeburt ist. Das belastet die Beziehung sehr und Patrick trennt sich. Doch die Beiden kommen nicht voneinander los. Der Film erzählt von Liebe und von Projektionen und davon, wie vergangene Lieben die neuen, aktuellen Beziehungen beeinflussen.

Ein ganzes Jahr dauert es, bis Juliane zum ersten Mal wieder die Laufschuhe anzieht. Ein Jahr seit dem Tag Null, an dem Johann sich das Leben nahm. Sie muss raus aus dem Loch, unbedingt, und wenn es bedeutet, sich mit Knieschmerzen zur nächsten Ampel zu schleppen. Juliane will die Trauer und die Schuldgefühle nicht mehr. Ihr Lebensgefährte ist zwar tot, aber sie ist immer noch da. Obwohl ihre Freundin Rike sie nach Kräften unterstützt, ist Juliane in diesem ersten Jahr einsam und antriebslos, zweifelt mitunter an ihrem Verstand. Selbst die Musik, die ihr Beruf und Berufung ist, entgleitet ihr. Tatsächlich ändert das Laufen dann alles. Keuchend beginnt Juliane, sich ihren Erinnerungen an Johann zu stellen und wieder neue Lebendigkeit zuzulassen.

Wie konnte das Unglück nur passieren? Während die Schuldigen gesucht und gejagt werden und die drei Frauen auf unterschiedliche Weise das Unerklärbare zu ergründen suchen, wird eine Antwort immer lauter: Neben der Schuldfrage selbst geht es auf jeder Ebene um Verantwortung. Nichts, was uns passiert (WDR)
Über ihre Uni-Clique lernen sich die 27-jährige Anna und der ein Jahr ältere Jonas kennen. Die erste Anziehung führt zu einem unspektakulären One-Night-Stand, der wie der Beginn einer leichten Sommeraffäre scheint. Die Begegnungen der beiden sind aber auch von viel Reibung und Provokation geprägt. Dann passiert etwas, das das Leben der beiden vollkommen verändert: Nach einer Party mit viel Alkohol wird Anna von Jonas vergewaltigt, sagt sie. Anna ist traumatisiert, erinnert sich an ihr „Nein“. Jonas dagegen erinnert sich an einvernehmlichen Sex. Die einzige, der sich Anna anfangs anvertrauen kann, ist ihre Schwester Daria, die ihr zur Anzeige rät. Schließlich erfährt auch das Umfeld von dem Vorwurf und die Freund:innen müssen Position beziehen. Die Podcasterin Kelly recherchiert die Ereignisse und versucht Haltungen und Diskurse rund um den Fall und seine Auswirkungen auf Opfer, Täter und das Umfeld zu ergründen.

Denn Henriette stellt ihrer Tochter unangekündigt ihren neuen Freund Philipp vor – auch dies könnte Grund zur Freude sein, wäre Philipp nicht 25 Jahre jünger als Henriette und ginge von dem gutaussehenden Mann nicht die Aura eines Heiratsschwindlers aus … Johannas furchtbarer Verdacht fällt auf einen guten Nährboden für einen Mutter-Tochter-Krieg: Das Verhältnis der beiden ist seit dem Tod des Vaters vor Jahren unterschwellig zerrüttet und von unausgesprochenen oder angedeuteten Vorwürfen zersetzt. In dem Konflikt um den neuen Liebhaber und/oder Erbschleicher Philipp bekommen diese latenten Vorwürfe nun endlich ihr Ventil und gipfeln in einem gnadenlosen Streit der beiden Frauen.

Die 25-jährige Marie lebt mit ihrem kleinen Sohn Lenny übergangsweise in einem Wohnwagen. Sie hält sich mit einem Gelegenheitsjob über Wasser, zu dem sie ihren Sohn in den Sommerferien mitnehmen muss. Als sie dem Schaustellergehilfen Erich begegnet, ist sie fasziniert von ihm. Mit ihm taucht Marie in die Welt des Jahrmarktes ein und geht auf die Jagd nach einem intensiven Leben. Der Beginn einer berauschenden Liebe, die Marie vor eine wichtige Entscheidung stellt.

Kommissar Sörensen, endgültig in die friesische Provinz gezogen, hat genug mit sich selbst zu tun: Er leidet unter Einsamkeit, Schlaflosigkeit und innerer Unruhe – und will dennoch nichts mehr, als die Medikamente gegen seine Angststörung abzusetzen. Da überfährt er des Nachts auf der Landstraße beinahe eine junge, verstörte Frau: unterernährt, im Nachthemd und blind. Als sie Sörensen endlich ihre Identität verrät, eröffnet sich ihm ein Geflecht aus Mord, religiösem Wahn und gut gehüteten Geheimnissen. Sörensen ist überfordert, von der Situation, von sich selbst. Der Ort lehnt ihn ab, die Angst kehrt zurück – und bei einer Leiche wird es nicht bleiben.

Vor 40 Jahren hat Hans Schüssler Rumänien verlassen. Die schmerzhaften Erinnerungen an seine alte Heimat ertränkt er in Alkohol. Doch als der Topmanager eines deutschen Holzkonzerns spurlos verschwindet, nimmt er als seine letzte Chance den lukrativen Auftrag an, ihn in Kronstadt am Fuße der rumänischen Karpaten zu suchen. Als ehemaliger Soldat, der darauf spezialisiert war, Menschen im Ausland aufzuspüren, gerät Hans bei seinen gefährlichen Ermittlungen immer tiefer in die Machenschaften der Holzmafia, die skrupellos Abholzungen im größten Urwald Europas betreibt. Er trifft auf seine alte Jugendliebe Sylvia, die ausgerechnet in Kronstadt gerade als Bürgermeisterin kandidiert. Die Suche in Siebenbürgen wird für Hans zu einer emotionalen Reise in seine verdrängte Vergangenheit, deren Gespenster immer noch erschreckend lebendig sind.

Am nächsten Tag erfährt Sarah, dass diese Frau nicht als Patientin eingewiesen wurde. Verwirrt versucht Sarah Carlo zu erreichen; dieser wird tot in seiner Wohnung aufgefunden. Was ist in der Nacht passiert? Die Kommissarin Elisabeth „Bessie“ Eyckhoff und ihr Kollege Dennis Eden versuchen die Geschehnisse der Nacht zu rekonstruieren.
