  1. Palermo, the melting pot of Europe

I’ll miss everything about Palermo. The people always made me feel at home; it will be impossible to forget my experiences there. - Paulo Dybala, former Palermo FC player Palermo might be the most welcoming place on Earth. Shopkeepers greet everyone with a friendly “Buongiorno.” Restaurants have a laid-back atmosphere that encourages diners to chat across tables, and taverns and markets offer communal dining to let strangers interact. 2.

  3. So we've been in #Sicily for nine days now, touring the island. We started in Palermo and are headed to Catania tomorrow.
I'd always thought that Sicilian food had a reputation for being a bit spicy, but I have to say, so far, not a sausage, literally, anywhere.
All the seafood you can eat, of course, which means that swordfish and aubergine pasta is everywhere, but nothing with even a touch of chilli.
Any thoughts or recommendations out there?

  12. They sure don't build them like this anymore!

Chiesa del Gesù in Palermo, Sicily, also known as Santa Maria di Gesù, or the Casa Professa ⛪

The Jesuit church is one of the most ornate Baroque interiors in Sicily. Every surface is covered with marble inlays, reliefs, and allegorical figures - angels, saints, floral motifs, and grotesque devils - creating images and narratives that were meant to instruct and move the faithful.

The church has been described as a kind of “bible in marble,” where the battle between good and evil is vividly carved into stone.
