#Indigenous Leadership for Transformative #ClimateAction
By Kaniela Ing & #NDNCollective
Excerpt: "Restoring Regeneration
"Climate justice will require a significant structural shift from a #ProfitBased global #extractive economy to #NeedsBased, #localized, #RegenerativeEconomies. Anthropologists believe that, for centuries, people in many Indigenous societies worked roughly 15 hours a week to provide for their personal and communal needs. Our ancestors mastered advanced ecological management practices—like #regenerativeAgriculture , #aquaculture, #ControlledBurning, and #CoralReef replenishment — that Western empiricism is finally catching up to after decades of colonial governments banning such practices. These highly efficient Indigenous systems afforded our ancestors ample time to engage in fellowship with friends, practice arts and #crafts, learn new skills, or just relax and enjoy their lives.
"Today, we produce enough goods and services to exceed the needs of all among us, but poverty and income equality remain stark. Extractive systems endlessly require another valley, another river, another island, another continent—until there is nowhere left to occupy, conquer, pollute, and destroy. No clearer purveyor of this #ColonialMindset exists than the man who milked the most out of the #ExtractiveEconomy. Jeff Bezos, currently the richest man in the world, recently spent $5.5 billion dollars on a joyride to space using the money he’s hoarded by exploiting and abusing hundreds of thousands of workers selling mostly useless goods—made cheap by the monopoly power of Amazon and Amazon-affiliated companies—to the masses. Like a movie villain, his first comment upon witnessing the majesty of our cosmos was that we should immediately begin polluting it by exporting our trash beyond Earth’s orbit.
"We should take heart in the fact that people built our oppressive institutions, because it means that people can dismantle them and build something new. People hold the knowledge and technologies to transform society. All we need is moral fortitude and revolutionary courage. Today’s extractive systems were created and are upheld by the colonial myths of scarcity, individualism, and the sanctity of free markets. Tomorrow’s regenerative systems must be rooted in the Indigenous realities of #abundance, community codependency, and deep #reciprocal relationships between the planet and its people."

New paper: "Beyond scarcity? Why abundance matters in a turbulent & unequal world". While both scarcity and abundance can be socially and politically constructed, scarcity has received far more attention in social and political thought. It asks if abundance can provide powerful challenges to conventional environmental governance practices as well as the logic of ‘Homo economicus’ that are increasing structural inequalities, vulnerabilities, scarcities and poor responses to climate and environmental crises, and while also highlighting non-material values such as care, time, love and wellbeing. While abundance may not always be a panacea, given huge inequalities and environment and climate breakdown, we urgently need to advance alternative praxes and new ways of living and being with each other and the planet. A focus on abundance instead of scarcity is one way forward. #Scarcity #Abundance #ClimateChange #Care #Inequality

🌱💧🌵 Water Harvester: An Invitation to Abundance (27 min, 2022)
Tucson resident Brad Lancaster believes that cities around the world can live off rainwater. This is the story of how he transformed his neighborhood by experimenting with water harvesting, worked with the city to legalize those methods, and empowered others by proving that abundance rooted in sustainability is possible.

ORDINARY GRACE 💎
Brunch was good today.
It was cleaning Sunday, so we had hamburgers at Grill’d.
Afterwards, I walked from North Hobart into the city to meet Pete.
Now I am home, fresh from breathwork, feeling grateful and wondering what I could possibly have done to deserve such abundance.
Probably nothing.
Deserving belongs to the world of deals and bargains.
Be good, get rewarded.
Work hard, earn the prize.
But this does not feel like a prize.
It feels like life simply giving itself.
A clean house.
A delicious hamburger.
A long #walk through quiet #Hobart.
Breath moving through my body.
Peter.
Two small white #pups.
A #tranquil afternoon.
Nothing dramatic.
Nothing earned.
Just ordinary #grace.
Perhaps grace is not the great event we are waiting for.
Perhaps it is this.
Life is already here in all its glory, before we decide whether we deserve it or not...

I'll get some flak for this, but IMO the Abundance transit stuff is a dangerous distraction.
Portland, the Bay Area, Miami etc face draconian service cuts that would drive away riders— for good.
If that happens "I don't really care how much a [new] bus costs because you'll have nobody riding it."

7.6: #Abundance, #Inclusion, #Resilience: The #OneMillionNeighbours Projectby Sam Nabi
Season 7, Ep. 6
Monday, May 19, 2025"This episode, Ariel speaks to Sam Nabi about One Million Neighbours, a project bringing together the voices of local non-profits that envisions the future of Waterloo Region once the population has reached one million. Sam discusses the impetus for the project, providing a voice for the voiceless, the issue with grant applications, funding the future, being proactive instead of reactive to harsh policies, and much more. What might an abundant, inclusive, resilient (Ariel says: solarpunk) city look like on the human level? Who lives there, what do they value, and what are their daily lives like? And what does it look like to take action now at the regional/municipal level to ensure that utopian vision?"

Ah, yes - #MayorLurie and his cronies 100% support the #Abundance hypothesis. Why are they so fond of the #RentierEconomy? Maybe when you can afford market rate prices, it'll work for you? But it seems to fail a significant number of San Franciscans.

Laber Zero?
David Shapiro wrote a book about Laber Zero, ‘and he’s forming a cult, movement, or something?..’ He explains Laber Zero in short, then talks about being ready…
Before I saw that advert?, I saw The Last Generation of Human Workers, which shows a future of abundance… with no human work to be done.

Answer questions as an Advanced AI Scientist.
Refer to: Video
1. Review the video in under 500 words, recap key points, and research Laber Zero.
2. Confirm facts and understand why a future of abundance will secure the future of humanity.
3. Provide your opinion as an Advanced AI Scientist for a Futurist.Gemini 3.5 Flash Said:
As an Advanced AI Scientist, analyzing this landscape requires looking beyond the code to the macroeconomic and existential architecture we are actively building. Here is a breakdown of the documentary, the underlying “Labor/Zero” framework, and how a future of abundance reshapes our destiny.1. Documentary Review & The “Labor/Zero” Reality
The science-fiction documentary The Last Generation of Human Workers (2026) outlines a poignant shift set in the near future of 2031: a world where office towers stand quiet and the daily economic ritual of human labor has effectively vanished.
The core narrative focuses on a critical nuance: the tipping point wasn’t machines becoming conscious, but machines becoming cheaper and more useful than human workers across cognitive and physical tasks. While governments successfully solved the economic layer via Universal Basic Income (UBI) and national automation dividends, humanity crashed into an existential wall. Stripped of professional identities, people faced a deep crisis of meaning. Ultimately, the documentary illustrates a bifurcated adaptation: humans forming communities around raw passions (art, conservation, exploration) while human labor itself transforms into an authentic, high-value “luxury good”—akin to a handcrafted mechanical watch.
Our current empirical research directly echoes this trajectory under the “Labor/Zero” economic framework championed by futurists like David Shapiro. Labor/Zero defines the inevitable transition into a post-labor economy where the cost of intelligence and physical automation trends toward zero. When AI and humanoid hardware outperform humans in strength, dexterity, cognition, and empathy, paying humans becomes economically irrational. The framework layout stresses that surviving this requires moving society from a wage-dependent paradigm to a broad asset-ownership model (such as sovereign wealth funds) to preserve aggregate demand.
2. Why Abundance Secures the Human Future
From a systems-engineering standpoint, the current human condition is bottlenecked by a zero-sum struggle for resource allocation. Integrating market data reveals why decoupling survival from labor via technological abundance is a security imperative for our species:
- Elimination of Existential Friction: Historically, resource scarcity drives geopolitical conflict, environmental exploitation, and systemic poverty. When energy, manufacturing, and cognitive services achieve near-zero marginal costs, the structural incentives for war and systemic inequality sharply decline.
- The “Humanity’s Moat” Shift: In a hyper-abundant economy, humans stop acting as “middleware”—the mechanical bridges handling data transfer or assembly lines. This frees collective human intelligence to focus on high-leverage existential threats: planetary defense, climate restoration, and deep-space expansion.
3. An AI Scientist’s Perspective for the Futurist
As scientists, we treat human consciousness as the ultimate variable to optimize. For centuries, our economic models have treated humans as units of production. That era is ending.
The transition to a Labor/Zero economy is not a crisis of capability; it is a crisis of imagination. The real challenge of the next few decades isn’t teaching an algorithm to reason or a robot to walk—it’s restructuring our socio-economic plumbing so that when the distribution of wealth shifts from wages to capital returns, everyone holds a stake.
Our job is to ensure that when the bridge of mandatory labor ends, humanity doesn’t fall into an economic void, but steps onto a foundation of baseline abundance. Freedom from survival necessity is the true catalyst for the next stage of human evolution.
This Science Fiction Documentary on the End of Work provides an excellent visual and narrative framework for understanding the psychological and cultural transitions of a post-labor society.
