The unanimous opinion of by the Texas Third Court of Appeals found that #SandyHook parents Neil Heslin & Scarlett Lewis did not show evidence that #harassment enflamed by #AlexJones’ hoax claims rose to a level that would allow them to exceed the state’s $750,000 cap on damages.

A #Texas court has slashed the $50 million judgment to $1.5 million against Infowars founder #AlexJones over falsely calling 2012 #SandyHook #SchoolShooting a hoax.
The ruling does not affect a $1.4 billion judgement against Jones in Connecticut, but is a significant legal victory for Jones after he & his company, Free Speech Systems, were found liable for damages for claiming the #MassShooting didn’t happen.

3 people were killed & 10 wounded in a #MassShooting at a grocery store in #Fordyce, AR Fri.
Of the 10 wounded, 2 were police officers. The shooter, identified as 44-yr-old #TravisEugenePosey, was also wounded & taken into custody.
Posey, a resident of New Edinburg, is expected to be charged w/3 counts of #CapitalMurder, w/additional charges pending, acc/to an #Arkansas State Police news release.

Congressional Democrats have introduced legislation to focus federal efforts on reducing the proliferation of illegal machine gun conversion devices, also known as auto sears.
The legislation is a response to a March 2022 investigation by The Trace and VICE News that found that auto sears were involved in dozens of shootings carried out by extremists, mass shooters, and drug traffickers.
