  1. For #ThickTrunkTuesday I present this stately old #LiveOak Tree which is growing in the front lawn of the Old State Capitol Museum in #BatonRouge #Louisiana. This tree is so wide that the limbs in the right of the photo have rested on the ground then grown upwards again. This helps with their incredible weight!

  2. For #ThickTrunkTuesday I offer this amazing #liveoak tree growning in the quad by the #LouisianaStateUniversity (#LSU) Library. This was taken on Sunday in #BatonRouge #Louisiana, so I guess it qualifies for #SilentSunday as well.

  3. For #ThickTrunkTuesday I wanted to post this wide and massive #LiveOak growning on the grounds of the Old State Capitol Museum on the Riverfront in #BatonRouge #Louisiana. This was a picture from April 2023.

  4. For #ThickTrunkTuesday I wanted to share this enormous old #liveoak #tree that has its own space by the Baton Rouge Clinic on Perkins Road in #BatonRouge #Louisiana. When the Clinic moved to this location, they preserved the tree and set aside an appropriately sized fenced area to protect its root system. The tree is thriving and so is the Clinic. Proof that we can live in harmony with nature if we do so thoughtfully. This oak supports an impressive colony of Resurrection Fern as well. I took these photos last week, and you can see the new spring growth on the branches.

  5. For #ThickTrunkTuesday I offer a couple of pictures of one of my favorite picnic tables and the Live Oak tree that forms a living cathedral over it. This tree is by Capitol Lakes in #BatonRouge #Louisiana. #LiveOak limbs often arch down and touch the ground, as we see in the second photo. This shady space is a great place to eat, or sit and take a break when walking around the lakes.
