Windy, cooler, and BRIGHT sunny day today. Perfect time to crack a 2024 #surlyBrewing Darkness imperial #stout
LOTS of hops in the 2024, overpowering the usual dark chocolate and coffee notes, adding more cherry and fruit to the finish. Not my favorite blend, but I’m not complaining 😎

Oaky, bitter, big hoppy. Way too many hops, not enough of the expected caramel and other flavors. Not your father’s barleywine, not a favorite.

Spotted #centralWaters bourbon barrel aged Brewer’s Reserve Cherry #Stout and had to give it a whirl.
If you gave it to me blind I would never guess stout - more of a quadruple
Hugely cherry and tart with a bitey carbonated finish. Not a favorite.

Perhaps the king/queen of heavy stouts! Rich and syrupy, the full boil brings so much complexity and flavor. Oak and bourbon, molasses and chocolate, dark fruits and brown sugar. Bewitching!
