  1. Italia is truly the promised land, thank the gods for leading us here! 😭🙏

  2. New life update #blog post!!

I'm in a transitional period in my life, moving from #Germany to #Spain, and I wanted to express more deeply what the immigration experience means for me. As well as what home means.

    I've structured my post to mirror #Virgil's #Aeneid, taking inspiration also from #UrsulaLeGuin's #TheDispossed and #Dante's #inferno.

The journey I want to talk about involves geographical displacement, but the real distance travelled takes place inside.

  4. Take it from me; I escaped the Inferno. A clean slate on location is the only way to escape the Matrix. I was like Vanni Fucci and I'll be Virgil this time. #vannifucci #virgil

  9. #SteamNextFest is over, but I found two demos yesterday I really liked and wanted to shout out, starting with the beautiful #HellMaiden. Just watch this video. #AstralShift's games have this incredible hand-drawn animation style, and seeing #Virgil, #Ovid, and Dante as anime girls is strange and charming.

  11. Reading the #Aeneid for the first time in over 20 years... Back when I was a student of Classics, we all tended to prefer Homer, but after all these years, I'm literally falling in love with #Virgil.

To think that he intended for this work to be burned to ashes after his death...

  14. Questa montagna è tale,
Che sempre al cominciar di sotto è grave,

  17. It's scary season (the week before the U.S. election). Rachel Hadas, a professor of English at Rugers University, has written this piece for @TheConversationUS about how the classics speak to these times. "Characters in Greek tragedies can make terrible decisions, be subject to madness, destroy themselves and others — but they are rarely afraid. The fear and pity Aristotle ascribes to tragedy are the emotions of the spectator," she writes.
