The down side to having ALL the moths at my house:
- trying to keep them OUT of the house for their own safety (the cat is obsessed)
- it means we also now have ALL the spiders at my house (I'm incredibly unhappy about this development)We live about a block from the edge of the suburb, and it's just farm land a few houses after ours... so we're one of the first *lights* in the area, and they're just absolutely swarming here. Which is fine (great, even, if we're talking about bogong moths!) but I can do without the spiders.

My housemate is going to be pet sitting for 11 days in Sydney. I'm driving her down tomorrow (and adding in a Costco visit), and then driving down to pick her up again on Tuesday 6th...
Tuesday 6th is the day before Race Week starts in Bathurst.
There's only one way through the mountains into Bathurst at the moment, because the Great Western Highway is closed... so we have to go via Bell's Line of Road.
Bell's Line is very twisty and turny, and is pmuch one lane both sides all the way. This means that if there's an accident, the whole thing shuts down for however many hours it takes to clear without any detours available.
Race Week increases the Bathurst population from its normal 37000 to about 200000 people. Most of those people come from/via Sydney. Which means that most of those people will be driving along the Bell's Line.
It's going to be a nightmare. I hope coming back on Tuesday is early enough to not get stuck.

I saw the most ridiculous thing this morning.
A woman at a zebra crossing didn't think the car approaching was going to stop (even though it was clear to me it was stopping, but whatever..).
Instead of WAITING to cross, she marched into the path of the car with her hands up in a "stop" gesture.
SHE. MARCHED. INTO. THE. PATH. OF. AN. ONCOMING. CAR. SHE. DIDN'T. BELIEVE. WAS. GOING. TO. STOP.
Like, can we just have a single fucking ounce of survival instinct, please??

One of the magpies I sometimes feed was just picking through the grass in the front yard, so I went out and tossed them some meal worms..

Day 2 of hiding the dogs inside from the weather. It's been hovering around 0° with windchill all day, and has started heading into the negatives... and it's only 4pm.
They've murdered their ruffle mats and we've done a whole bunch of training to try and tire them out... will it work? We'll find out around 6.30pm, which is when they start getting toey before dinner and giving everyone a hard time.

It's a goat rescue at Lidsdale, near Lithgow, called Goats in the Valley (they're on Facebook and insta), they have 2 feedings/day that you can help with while also learning about goats and their rescue program.
