I was so excited to find this on Alibaba before I saw that the minimum order quantity is 50.

I bought an esp-32 module, with development board, Solar panel controller and LiIoN battery charger module plus a step up DC/DC converter to control the pump of my balcony hydroponic unit.

I need to program the ESP-32 to turn the pump 2-4 times a day to begin with, then move on to add more functions to control and maintain the unit and eventually send messages if there are any need for maintenance.

It's the first embedded controller design I've done since I left work in 2020. I'm very rusty.

The whole package cost about €11. The battery will be one 18650 I salvaged from old laptop battery.

Found 2 20L oil containers in our recycling room and brought them home.
They are perfect to make 2 simple #hydroponic units using 12L units I bought many years ago.

Used a #pallet from the street and a few screws and now looking for my solar panels, 12V water pumps and some tubes to put it on the balcony to grow 4x tiny Tim #tomatoes and maybe some #peppers.

#Hydroponic #jalapeno harvest time again.

I think I'm going to make jalapeno bread this time, or use them in mix with #habanero to make spicy sauce.

I haven't bought any peppers in 3 years.

My other plants died, but I'm waiting until I've sold this apartment to start new plants.

My wife's friend liked my #hydroponic pepper setup , so when I trimmed it, I cut a branch and put it in the pot with a tomato growing in it.

Now it's 60cm tall, fully grown and ready to be replanted, so it goes to a new home soon.

I'm not sure what type it is, probably #Habanero or #Jalapeno, but even #Serrano. The label I put their faded away in the strong sunshine of south of #France.

These #hydroponic #peppers better git to growing, I'm using a #kratky setup of a hoocho bucket of cococoir and cotton wick on top a 5 gal bucket of water and nutrients...but the level is getting low now the fruiting is on.

I could add back in maybe 1 gal of mix to keep it fruiting, but I really want to see how #SetAndForget I can get this.

Also adding back into a #kratky setup is a dance, too much and you drown the air roots.

Dieses Jahr mal ein kleiner Hydroponic-Testlauf... mal seh'n, wie das klappt. Die #FronteraSweet ist gestern in einen grünen 10l Eimer umgezogen. Netztopf mit Blähton gefüllt und Wasser etwas gedüngt mit Hakaphos Naranja.

Finally finished my #hydroponic tower.

#Jalapeno #peppers on top, 19 spider plants on the pipe

Using a 5W submersible pump and an analog timer to control it.

4 x 20minutes on during the day and 2x20minutes on at night.

Hoping that it will work and I can get both jalapenos and pretty tower like I used to have.

We’re on about day 5 or 6 after the hatch chili seed planting in the hydroponic garden. Sprouting should happen in 7-14 days … so we’re still in the “be patient” period!

Starting a new experiment in the #hydroponic #garden: hatch #chili plants. I doubt this will work, but I sure do miss those chilis.

My #Hydroponic #Tomato is growing too big for the little container it has and I don't know what to do with it.

I wasn't planning to have any plants growing this season, but this little guy grew from the seeds of an old tomato, I took it out of the soil and put it in vermiculite and clay balls.

It has been growing ever since and now it's time to find a new container for it.

I got green lighter to go ahead with a new design for a #hydroponic system. I designed it around over the shelf parts ( 110mm PP drainage pipes and 110-55mm manifolds ) on a metal shelf, a pump and made a render in blender. I wonder if anybody has comments/experience with such a system( I made a simpler 110mmPVC some years ago) .
A bit concerned by the height of water and young roots that might not reach all the way to the water. I am thinking of wicks to start them.Boosting for reach welcome

One of the good things about living in the MidRed... A pal was out shooting #duck tonight. He stopped by my apt with some very fresh duck breasts. Shot at 630pm..so very fresh. From my indoor #hydroponic garden I picked some #basil, radish greens, radishes, and from the pantry some tiny oranges....air fried the duck with salt, Szechuan pepper corns, soy and ginger glaze...and in 20 mins ... #aptgarden #kratkyfood

I know I'm going to regret it, but this is the only suitable container/vase I have for the #hydroponic tower.

It's 6L, it's sturdy & fits the pipe perfectly.

It's clear, which is not good. But, I can fix it by putting it in a box made out of pallet wood to make it heavier and keep the light from entering to prevent Algae buildup

1 step closer to have a new hydroponic tower.
Ps. Needs new coat of paint & some minor rework to make it prettier.

Another #hydroponic experiment time:
Cleaned out the hydroponic machine and planted two pods of lettuce for the summer months, and started experimenting with 1) growing Hibiscus moscheutos from seed and 2) using more sustainable coco coir as the growing medium.

Update #Cannabis, weil da ist gerade am meisten los und ich schick die jetzt in Blüte.
Anfangs hatte ich Probleme bei der Umstellung auf Kunstlicht (mit zu viel Lumen draufgeballert.... soll ja schnell gehen....) und dadurch fast die Pflanze gekillt.
Schnee von gestern und jetzt läuft alles erstaunlich rund.
Was praktisches zum Nachfüllen für den Tank muss ich mir noch einfallen lassen und einen Wasserstandsanzeiger hätte ich auch noch gerne.

I'm working an #aeroponic vertical tower to grow #lettuce , 3D printer but with a solar powered battery to run the pump.
I know I'll need to adjust the run times but trying to work out what the best starting timings should be, I was thinking something like 3 minutes on and 17 off or is that too long off. I'm in the UK so currently climate is quite dry. The controller is programmed by me so I can do any combination, perhaps 1 min on and 6 mins off.

Any suggestions?

Gießtutorial für Katzenstreu....🍿
Heute wurde auch gegossen. Das ist ganz einfach.
Ich gieße immer mit Dünger und das letzte mal hat die Pflanze vor 4 Tagen was bekommen.
Ich kippe einfach soviel NL in die Schüssel, bis das KS komplett unter Wasser ist und warte eine Kaffee Länge.
Danach kippe ich die überschüssige NL wieder in eine Flasche. Die NL kann, muss man nicht weg kippen und wird von mir auch weiterverwendet.

Neuer Versuch Pflanzen auf (KS) Katzenstreu (Ytong) wachsen zu lassen.
Topf ist ein Nudelsieb und eine Schüssel. Das passt genau bündig ineinander und unten ist noch was Platz für Wurzeln.
Mischung NL:
Wasser 0,9 + Bittersalz = ec 1,0
+ Dünger 0,5
pH 7,2
Das KS habe ich vorher gesiebt, sodass da nur die dicken Körner drin sind.

Aus der soll mal ein Bonsai werden. Macht scharfe kleine Schoten.
Basilikum und Koriander für die Küche und

And so begins a new phase of #aptgarden as #hoocho #hydroponic buckets are finally available in the StatesOfUnited .
Why this form factor? I love my mason jars, they will continue, but top ups in an apt get messy. Watching #Hoocho design, test, rebuild, retest, and tweek use cases has primed my idea for a more contained easily topped up apartment grow system.
While I intend to keep it #kratky I will be using different methods based on the spaces used.
Now to wait for delivery 🚚l

First #hydroponic #strawberries. These have not been very successful, I think I missed the season. Sounds like they also prefer more oxygen in their hydroponic solution than the #Kratky bucket method provides - probably a #DWC system would be more appropriate. #gardening
