dopo quasi due anni eccoci qui. solo la melissa è sopravissuta ai minimi termini, pure con un secondo viaggio in auto in mezzo. con il caldo, e piccoli insetilli bianchi pullulanti tutte le altre piantine hanno ceduto, mettendoci pure il fatto che non sarò stato bravo abbastanza. poi con lo smontaggio del tutto la pompa dell'acqua ogni tanto fa le bizze, speriamo di reggere ancora. come stele funeraria a memoria di broccolo & co. è presente un victriibil benaugurante e che grida vendetta.

Hydroponic kratky experiment V2.
This one is intended to be much easier for monitoring pH and particle count.

Making slow but steady progress on hydro spinach (and lettuce prototype).
The spinach seems to have a bit of a nutrient deficiency that I can attribute to either an off pH or me using baking soda to raise the pH which introduces sodium and can limit uptake.
I need to buy some proper pH Up.
Anyways, roots look very healthy so it's not rot.

Hydroponic spinach is going well after a lot of babying.
The tatsoi, poblanos, and pumpkins are doing good too.
A single musk melon is... problematic, which is why I direct sowed about a dozen the other day. Let's hope for at least one mate.

I bought an esp-32 module, with development board, Solar panel controller and LiIoN battery charger module plus a step up DC/DC converter to control the pump of my balcony hydroponic unit.
I need to program the ESP-32 to turn the pump 2-4 times a day to begin with, then move on to add more functions to control and maintain the unit and eventually send messages if there are any need for maintenance.
It's the first embedded controller design I've done since I left work in 2020. I'm very rusty.
The whole package cost about €11. The battery will be one 18650 I salvaged from old laptop battery.

Mint from my indoor hydroponic.
They were going crazy tall so I cut some. Don't have much use for them and don't like this type of mint that much (it has a special taste), so I guess I just get rid of them.

Finally finished my #hydroponic tower.
#Jalapeno #peppers on top, 19 spider plants on the pipe
Using a 5W submersible pump and an analog timer to control it.
4 x 20minutes on during the day and 2x20minutes on at night.
Hoping that it will work and I can get both jalapenos and pretty tower like I used to have.

We’re on about day 5 or 6 after the hatch chili seed planting in the hydroponic garden. Sprouting should happen in 7-14 days … so we’re still in the “be patient” period!

#Garden plans made, going into my raised beds: potatoes, parsnips, beetroot, celeriac, sweetcorn, tomatoes and Brussel sprouts. I was going to try courgettes in some pots due to space.

My #Hydroponic #Tomato is growing too big for the little container it has and I don't know what to do with it.
I wasn't planning to have any plants growing this season, but this little guy grew from the seeds of an old tomato, I took it out of the soil and put it in vermiculite and clay balls.
It has been growing ever since and now it's time to find a new container for it.

I got green lighter to go ahead with a new design for a #hydroponic system. I designed it around over the shelf parts ( 110mm PP drainage pipes and 110-55mm manifolds ) on a metal shelf, a pump and made a render in blender. I wonder if anybody has comments/experience with such a system( I made a simpler 110mmPVC some years ago) .
A bit concerned by the height of water and young roots that might not reach all the way to the water. I am thinking of wicks to start them.Boosting for reach welcome -

One of the good things about living in the MidRed... A pal was out shooting #duck tonight. He stopped by my apt with some very fresh duck breasts. Shot at 630pm..so very fresh. From my indoor #hydroponic garden I picked some #basil, radish greens, radishes, and from the pantry some tiny oranges....air fried the duck with salt, Szechuan pepper corns, soy and ginger glaze...and in 20 mins ... #aptgarden #kratkyfood

My latest #garden grown #salad was flashy lettuce, cauliflower leaves, kale, kale lacinato, Swiss chard, yellow cherry tomatoes, red cherry tomatoes, and cucumber. Most of this salad came from my #hydroponic garden but the cucumbers were grown in my front yard garden, and the red cherry tomatoes are squirrel #tomatoes . What are squirrel tomatoes? They come from a plant planted in my backyard by squirrels who raised my neighbors' #gardens . It is like the #squirrels are paying rent to me.

I know I'm going to regret it, but this is the only suitable container/vase I have for the #hydroponic tower.
It's 6L, it's sturdy & fits the pipe perfectly.
It's clear, which is not good. But, I can fix it by putting it in a box made out of pallet wood to make it heavier and keep the light from entering to prevent Algae buildup
1 step closer to have a new hydroponic tower.
Ps. Needs new coat of paint & some minor rework to make it prettier.

Growing up on my parents' #homestead #squash was a staple of our diet. Last night, I prepared a yellow straight neck summer squash from my front yard #vegetable #garden in olive oil and seasoned it with #thyme from my #hydroponic garden. These #hydroponic #peppers better git to growing, I'm using a #kratky setup of a hoocho bucket of cococoir and cotton wick on top a 5 gal bucket of water and nutrients...but the level is getting low now the fruiting is on.
I could add back in maybe 1 gal of mix to keep it fruiting, but I really want to see how #SetAndForget I can get this.
Also adding back into a #kratky setup is a dance, too much and you drown the air roots.
And that is the new from #aptgarden for today. #lifefindsaway
