Died this day: 09/02/2013 (b. 11/26/1919) Frederik George Pohl Jr. was an American science-fiction writer, editor, and fan. His novel Jem (1979) was the winner of the National Book Award and a finalist for the Hugo and Nebula Awards, and sixth place for the Locus Award.

I’m rereading the 1952 #ScienceFiction classic #TheSpaceMerchants by #FrederikPohl and #CMKornbluth before teaching it again this summer. It’s always been compelling, but wow, it hits different in 2025.
