The Forever Machine (aka They'd Rather be Right) by Mark Clifton and Frank Riley. This was the 1955 Hugo winner. It's widely believed to be the worst book to ever win a Hugo award so I don't have high hopes for it. But the good news is that I found a copy of the rare Galaxy Publishing edition with cool cover art by the famous Wally Wood

The #MarsAttacks -trading cards, to which the movie was based upon, can be found on the Internet Archive (it's a lot more than just the Wayback Machine!).

Most of the pictures don't really hold up but there are some really great 1960s horror in the mix that not only inspired Tim Burton with his film, but also foresaw our culture in the early 21st century.
