  1. I have solved the homemade #ćevapi problem. #Sarajevo ones, of course.

The recipe is one by Mrkva posted on the web forum by a friend of him soon after the war ended.

The absence of a barbecue is finally solved by an AirFryer.

In #Bilbao, there is an gheto in the old town where one can get the correct type of meat.

I’m like 80% done on the road to perfect ćevap!

At the same time, I’m reducing the meat consumption to a minimum and moving closer and closer to #vegetarianism.

    #Life 😂

  2. "A 2016 study of the salmon in the Puget Sound in Washington found Prozac, Advil, Benadryl and Lipitor, as well as cocaine, in the tissues of juvenile chinook salmon." (NYT)

I suppose it's time for me to re-focus on #Vegetarianism . For many years now fish has been my meat choice. It's not as healthy as I'd hoped!

  3. Just so you know what it’s like for a vegetarian to be surrounded by carnivores… at this time of the evening most of my neighbours are cooking their meals and on pleasant days that mostly means BBQ. All I can smell is the air reeking with the stink of cows. Unpleasant to say the least. My only alterntive is to shut up the house and spray some kind of deodoriser. SHame about the balmy night…

I’m easy and neighbours should cook/eat whatever they like, it’s no skin of my nose, but my nose insists.

  4. CW: description of food

My bestie: Hey, what are you looking at?

    Me: The vegetarian section

Bestie: *looks at vegetarian section, looks rest of buffet, looks at me, looks back at vegetarian section* is that it?

Me: well, there's a pot of soup over there, but otherwise, yes, this is it

Bestie: Sooooo... why are you staring at it?

Me: There were crispy pancakes here earlier, but now they're gone. I've seen a lot of carnivores get food from here, so maybe they have eaten them.

Bestie: Ah. So you're standing guard?

Me: Not really, just waiting, hoping that they'll refill the crispy pancakes

Random guy with a plate full of bbq'ed shrimp and oysters: *walks to vegetarian buffet and takes a couple of spring rolls*

    Bestie: Hey, are you vegetarian?

    Shrimp guy: Eh. No.

Bestie: Well, this is the vegetarian section. Maybe better if you take from the rest of this gigantic buffet?

Shrimp guy: Ah, yes, good suggestion, thanks! *continues to help himself to vegetarian food*

    Bestie & Me: 👁️👄👁️

  5. An app I would gladly pay for: I hold my phone camera over a plate or food (at a party or other event) and it tells me whether there's meat in it. Having to keep asking random people "Do you think there's meat in this?" is not fun. #vegetarianism

  6. My nephew just informed me that I’m lucky that I’m vegetarian, because eating meat is so much work! It takes him no fewer than 29 chews to chew his way through a piece of pork 😱

  7. The #DailyTelegraph is off its meds yet again.

#Venison is NOT #vegan, unless your dictionary is hallucinating. Veganism is not just abstention from eating meat (thats #vegetarianism); it's about abstaining from all exploitation of animals.

The #Torygraph used to be a newspaper.

  14. Digesting Food Studies—Episode 114: Flexitarianism
    rss.com/podcasts/digesting-foo

Are you a carnivore? A vegan? A frugivore? Or do you fall in between categories of eater, identifying more as a flexitarian? As we learn from this episode’s guest author, Kelsey Speakman, flexitarianism is a complex space of food making, ethical and multispecies relationships, and marketing rhetoric.

Kelsey’s article on the subject, “Beef, Beans, or Byproducts? Following Flexitarianism’s Finances,” comes from Vol. 11, No. 4 of Canadian Food Studies (doi.org/10.15353/cfs-rcea.v11i). And sandwiching this meat-alternatives theme are Alexia Moyer on a powerful kitchen implement, and Milka Milicevic on the power of true alternatives in eating.
