I just rewatched #BabylonFive, & I notice some common themes with N. K. Jemisin's award winning Broken Earth trilogy (which I'm also re-reading). Chosen family, how cultures & religions form & propagate, engineering humans as weapons, war & peace, kindness, racism, addiction, love.

Both of these are complex, worth a revisit ... & both feel different now than before - in this crazy timeline we're in.

Worth the re-visit!

Pastor: I didn't say that … Just talking about it, 'sharing the burden' as much as you can. You know, when your worry-tank gets full, others stop coming to you 'cause they don't want to add to it. You have to empty your worry tank once in a while, or you just get more isolated.

@skribe Better yet, so a full, proper Babylon 5 remake.

That show, with its many intricate subplots, was a good 20 years ahead of its time. It was Netflix-style episodic television in the early 90s.

And as for the relevance of the main plot today?

A small space station declares independence from the Earth Alliance, after an authoritarian populist seizes power and decides to bomb the Mars colony, causing countless civilian casualties.

Yep, I can definitely see the contemporary relevance.

(Bonus points if the CGI scenes in the remake are rendered on a cluster of Amiga 1200s.)
