  1. Just finished season two of the Australian police procedural, "Deadloch."
I enjoyed it at least as much -- if not more -- than season 1.
It's quirky, different, twisty, and I'm recommending it to all my friends.
I really don't want to spoil anyone's experience with spoilers, so I'll say no more.
PS: it's a comic murder mystery, if that helps you make up your mind.

  2. Just did Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and it was easily one of the best, funniest comedies I've seen in a while. Just unreal 😂

  3. the #transition in the past two decades from family #sitcoms and ‘friends all living together’ sitcoms to #workplace #comedies signifies a larger shift in how #work dominates our lives and leaves no space for traditional #family or #community raising in this essay i will

  4. the best thing in this movie is the fake gigolo Tonetti. he never ever fails to crack me up. Eric Rhodes’ performance is so sincere his cluelessness borders on pure, unadulterated innocence… if it weren’t for the fact he’s there to stage a moment of adultery so she can get a divorce.

BTW this actually seems to have been a thriving side hustle for UK seaside hoteliers.

  5. NIGHT AND DAY is my favorite Cole Porter song. Rogers and Astaire dance it so splendidly.

also, y’all know the “jazz hands” joke, a reference to Bob Fosse’s coreography? after watching a few of her movies, i think we can confidently talk about “Ginger hands”; when she does slow turns but has to look up to the camera even if she isn’t looking at it.

  7. I’m looking to compile an “ideal” television schedule based on programmes from the 1960s, a “greatest hits” of 1960s tv. The schedule would run from 5pm until 11pm, Sunday through to Saturday, and include dramas, comedies, light entertainment, documentaries, music, etc. Which programmes would you nominate for this schedule? Please add your suggestions below and I will include the most popular programmes in the schedule.

  8. I was super fatigued & lazy yesterday & for half the day I laid around watching movies. I watched 'Problem Child' from 1990. Omg that movie is so hilarious. I hadnt seen it in years. It's really funny. It's really well-written and well-acted. I like comedy movies where it is like a cartoon but with real people.

  10. Programmes that appeared on British television in the 1960s. Whether you saw them at the time, or in later decades, which programmes stand out for you? Which individual shows or series do you regard as your favourites? Which shows had the biggest cultural impact?

  11. I lie in bed and watch very bad #films or listen to great #music. Speaking of crappy films: #Hbo''s #Sweethearts / 2024 - could a teen #romantic #comedy be any more random and interchangeable? Are all American #comedies today so incredibly staid and prudish? I want #JohnHughes back! Now! #filmsky
