Desconocía por completo a esta banda y este disco de punk sofisticado a lo Television. Ha costado lo suyo que me entre, porque aquí suenan muchas cosas: new wave, pop, punk, power pop, psicodelia y momentos más hardrockeros. Todo muy batido. La manera despreocupada de frasear del cantante recuerda a Lou Reed, pero hay un tema (The Beast) en el que me recuerda muchísimo más a Patty Smith.
Todo suena muy bien, pero quizá falta algo de cohesión y coherencia. Las canciones no me han llegado a llenar del todo.
Momento chistechante: sobre los acordes iniciales de su éxito "Another Girl, Another Planet" se puede cantar, perfectamente, la de "Si lo sé me meo" de los Porretas.

This track is progressing rather nicely. I created a bridge (still unfinished) with some semantic reharmonization, and made use of the i-VI-iv chord progression that's commonly used in synthwave. The recording glitched slightly in a couple spots, but I didn't feel like re-recording it to get rid of the glitches.

Le he dado un tiento al nuevo de Mastodon, que debería ser la banda fetiche del fedi:
En una primera escucha, me ha parecido un poco caótico y más largo que un día sin tabaco. Creo que han perdido bastante el rumbo sobre lo que quieren hacer. Los riffs no tienen la gracia que tenían antes, pero eso es muy difícil de mantener en el tiempo. Y yo echo de menos al barbudo loco, con su voz apretada y sus arreglos psycocountries.
Vuelven a su sonido clásico, mucho más transparente que el de su anterior trabajo. Esto gustará a mucha gente, pero a mí ese rollo oscurillo me motivaba como cambio de rumbo, una pena.
Como punto positivo, siguen teniendo un estilo único bastante reconocible. Espero que me vaya entrando mejor en sucesivas escuchas, con Mastodon suele ocurrir.
