This looks like a really cool feature, & I can already think of some great use cases for it on #Fosstodon. We could do a Team collection, we could create collections of the fantastic #opensource projects that choose to make their home on the server, we could create collections of contributors or maintainers, & so much more. #mastoadmin #cmgr

For the first time, I think one of my cats shut down my main #TrueNAS server. It runs VMs or apps for #Nextcloud, #Mastodon, #Storj, #Unifi, and #Wordpress. So that was neat! It was down from about 12-4pm today. After I noticed it was offline I found the curtain from the nearby window draped across the server. The power button is on top of the tower case. So I think a cat went to look out the window and walked across the power button! 😸❤️

I filed a bug report for the #Storj v1.3.15 #TrueNAS app last night. This morning it was fixed and v1.13.16 deployed without issue. Impressive work!

haven't been on here in a hot minute because life has been CRAZY… but i’m popping back in to share that, with some gen-AI assistance, i’ve built **neovim-anywhere**!!

neovim-anywhere is fairly straightforward – one bash script and one shortcut (allows quick launch + input of selected text + keyboard shortcut). it takes selected text, puts it into neovim and copies the output (:wqq) to your clipboard. similar to vim-anywhere, it is unfortunately unable to paste directly into the original text field upon closing.

currently, the neovide GUI is a dependency, but i’m sure it can be adapted to a terminal

it solves a personal pain point in dealing with laggy text fields. sometimes i just want the convenience of nvim when i'm writing, say, an email – without having to open an entire terminal window and launch nvim.

hoping to get a github repo up and running soon for anyone interested. also hoping to get a more detailed blog post up, discussing the process and further thoughts, though that may come later

Engineers of #fosstodon, I need your help.

I'm building this desk with hidden monitors; basically a box that can open. The box opens with hinges and hydraulic gas springs (see pic). The box will then be placed on an electric desk frame.

My question: will it be a problem to have the legs in the middle of the frame (see white frame pic)? Will it be sturdier if the legs are towards the end (see black frame pic), so that the weight of the box when it's open is more on the legs?

I use #meshcentral as my production RMM in my IT small biz.

The issue's pattern: you have a #cloudflare DNS service routing traffic to your Meshcentral instance, often behind an #nginx reverse proxy. The main website works, but the remote connections start failing half the time. Now they always fail at a 0 sec timeout.

It seems caused by a change in cloudflare likely with #websockets but possibly #ssl certs?

Any #ntopng users on #Fosstodon? I'm trying to find a good whole networking monitoring tool, mostly to monitor outbound connections from within my network - rogue APIs, websites, etc. Maybe ntopng isn't the right answer... open to suggestions!

@fosstodon @kev @mike: I don't know if you are aware of this already or not, but the #Fosstodon servers all get a B rating from #Qualys #SSLLabs SSL Test here: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=fosstodon.org Most other Mastodon servers I have checked get an A+ or at least an A. It looks like you should consider disabling #TLS 1.0 and 1.1 protocols to get a better rating. #InfoSec #Security

Been working on this piece on the side of my bachelors thesis since January. Since I am writing it entirely using open source software on a Linux install, I thought making an art piece the same way would be nice.

Since then I’ve done a bunch of #sysadmin work (mostly #Solaris) followed by OS (#solaris #illumos #smartos #zfs) development and more recently various storage stuff (#nvme #nvmeof #roce #spdk #bluefield #dpu #smb).

I love #hiking through the #wilderness and other natural areas.

From now on i'm not going to post blog updates here because service is deleting disagreeable messages.
And comparing to generic tweeter i don't see any positive differences here.
