@mr_Elma Well, following #Fosstodon only gets the specific posts where that particular hashtag is mentioned, not all the posts that are made here. There's ~7500 active accounts on Fosstodon, and most of the posts don't use that hashtag. Really, when you're following the hashtag you're getting people talking about Fosstodon, not the posts from it. There's some overlap to be sure, but that's relatively small.

Back in the day @mike and I discussed at great length whether #Fosstodon was becoming too large and adding to the problem, so we slowed things down by closing public sign ups.
