  1. #FediCoven 2026 Q10: Do no harm, but take no sh*t! How pacifistic is your magic?

I love that saying! I'll be using that from now on, thank you. And I would *never* ask for harm to come to others... I'm just not that sort of person.

  2. #FediCoven Q10 Do no harm, but take no sh*t! How pacifistic is your magic?

I think it's a tricky credo. Just as the older "An ye harm none, do what ye wil" Wiccan Rede. It implies that you don't do any harm, but we're humans navigating a complex world, intentionally or not, you do harm.

It's like the "I'm a good person" argument. You can be a good person and do harm. So, such oversimplifications of your ethical decisions and boundaries leaves them unexamined, and hence you're more likely to do harm.

In general, that is a problem with having a written down, moral system. It often relinquishes you from the really rather crucial obligation to own and examine the decisions you make.

So, I'm not a pacifist, I'm vigilant of the harm I do, and will take a precisely measured, well-examined amount of sh*t, before deciding to use my magic to counter anything. And I will hex someone with itchy underpants.

Just to make it clear: Pagan traditions are diverse, and I respect people’s right to practice their spirituality in different ways. But that respect does not extend to using tradition, ancestry, nature, biology, or personal belief to justify racism, ableism, misogyny, anti-feminism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, or hostility toward my LGBTQ+ fedifriends. No one’s identity, body, disability, gender, sexuality, neurospicy cognition, or way of living makes them less worthy of dignity or belonging.

  4. #FediCoven 2026 Q9: Show something worthless but valuable to your practice.

Journaling. It's pure magic for me.

  5. #FediCoven 2026 Q8: What’s a mundane activity that becomes unexpectedly magical or spiritually significant when done attentively?

Making meals, making yourself a pretty coffee, baking, etc. Basically, anything to give yourself fuel and energy. You have to put intention into the things you do. It matters. The same could be said for showers, baths, or skincare routines.

  6. Ancient word of the day: Hedgehog

The ancient word for today is hedgehog Erinaceus europaeus. In the Middle Ages, writers didn’t make reference to hedgehogs, but to urchins. This term for the spiky diminuitive animal is still favoured in some English dialects. We still have the lingering remnants of this etymology in the form of sea urchin, which is literally a sea hedgehog.

The word urchin came to England with the Norman invasion and was derived from the Latin word ericius. Before the Norman conquest, the animal was known by the Anglo-Saxon name Igl.

    Other names

    Furze-pig – Devon

    Hotchi-witchi – Romani

    Hodmedods – Norfolk

    Ouriço cacheiro – crafty pig
or porco espinho’ – spiky pig in Portuguese

Detail of a miniature of hedgehogs sticking fallen fruit to their quills and carrying it back to their burrow; from the Rochester Bestiary, England (Rochester?), c. 1230, Royal MS 12 F. xiii, f. 45r.

”Thorns shall grow in their palaces, nettles & thistles in their strongholds … there shall the hedgehog build, dig, be there at home and bring forth his young ones.” Taverner’s Isiah 34, 1539.

Detail of a miniature of the hedgehog reproaching the goat for his vanity; from Ulrich von Pottenstein, Spiegel der Weisheit, Austria (Salzburg), c. 1430, Egerton MS 1121, f. 44v.

The hedgehog was a symbol of Christian humility

The Speculum sapientiae, or Mirror of Wisdom is an ancient tale of beasts in Latin. In one tale, a passing goat sees its reflection in a pond and declares himself very handsome indeed. A hedgehog trundles along afterwards and reproaches the goat telling him that profound humility, not vain boasting are what makes animals truly noble.

Detail of a miniature of a hedgehog; from Jean de Wavrin, Recueil des croniques d’Engleterre, vol. 1, Netherlands (Bruges), 1471-1483, Royal MS 15 E. iv, f. 180r.

  7. #FediCoven 2026 Q7: What have seasonal changes taught you that books or teachers could not?

I've learned more from nature in general that I ever would have in school when it comes to many subjects. I allow myself to truly feel (and love) the changes during the year, throughout the seasons, and that alone has done a lot for me. Just as we as people change, Mother Earth does as well throughout the year. Change is good. It cleanses and renews.

  8. #FediCoven 2026 Q6: What relationship do you have with the moon and its phases, and how does that show up in your craft?

Ever since I was little, I've always felt connected to the moon. That hasn't changed, nor will it. The moon plays a big part in my practice, as I'm sure it does for many others as well. I usually work my schedule and spells around its phases.

  9. @floofpaldi I love when somebody hits it off with you & we start talking energies, herbs, or spiritual court. Then others join in with their experiences.

What doesn’t work for me when you bring something up that could be better & you’re greeted with apathy. I’ve left circles over this. #Pagan #Paganism #Wicca #Wiccan #Heathen #Fedicoven

  10. #FediCoven 2026 Q5: What helps you feel welcome in a pagan or witchy space? And what doesn't?

A true feeling of "otherness" and a lack of crosses. LOL. In all seriousness, though, just a genuine sense of self, unapologetically and authentically them, so I can get a read on the person, an idea of who they are or what they like, and we all decorate differently. That final part makes things fun.

    Just be yourself.

  11. #FediCoven 2026 Q4: How do you identify? (Witch, druid, pagan, shaman, medium, 'all of the above'?)

These days, I generally only use a single word: pagan (because it's simple, easy). Feel free to call me anything you want, though. None of those words bother me. Also, random: I'm a medium, or a clairvoyant, psychic, etc. I even have a paranormal podcast.

  12. #FediCoven 2026 Q3: Are you out of the broom closet?

I was raised in an Irish Catholic family. With that being said, my father practiced his own sort of Paganism, having been close to and dear friends with so many indigenous peoples, and my mother is Wiccan. So, of course, to some family members, I'm out. To others, I'm not. I actually live with my grandmother, my nana, and she thinks I just collect crystals. She also thinks I might be agnostic. It is what it is.

  13. #FediCoven 2026 Q2: What role does self-care play in your practice? Any tips?

Self-care is a huge part of my practice. A major one, actually. We have to take care of ourselves before we can even think of taking care of those around us. No matter what your religion is, that should play a role.

As for tips? Do what's right for your body. Listen to what your body needs. Drink more water. Take your medication if you're reading this and you haven't yet. Every little thing matters.

  14. #FediCoven 2026 Q1: For those who have a form of divination in their practice, does this indicate to you that the universe is predestined or deterministic?

    Thank you, @HeliaXyana! :11111:

In some ways, I believe it is. In others, I do believe we forge our own path. You could ask any pagan and they would probably give you a different answer. While I think some things are set in stone, others might be changed.

  15. In March I checked off a bucket list item: moderating a panel with 3 phenomenal trans/nonbinary pagans at Paganicon! Our panel was called "Inclusion vs. Affirmation: Nonbinary, Genderqueer, and Transgender Identities in Our Communities" & the room was PACKED. I wish we'd had at least one more hour, because the conversation was so rich and there was such keen interest from the audience! Siri Vincent Plouff, Mhara Starling, and Cassandra Snow were AWESOME! #paganism #paganicon #WitchSky #PaganSky

  16. We really need to stop calling obvious schizophrenia, manic delusions, and psychosis ‘unverified personal gnosis.’ A person whom I knew 15 years ago has persistent beliefs, regardless of facts, that they knew me in a past life and we made some pact to alter the future to save the world from Nazis. It’s insane, but everyone in the occult Discord is nodding their heads and validating it.

A delusion is a persistent belief regardless of facts. This person has dreams and hallucinations that they believe are gods, spirits, and telepathy. In these hallucinations and delusions, the spirits tell them who random strangers were in a past life. A lot of these delusions are obviously paranoid and inevitably roll into a conspiracy theory about Nazis. This is very terrifying. This means, based on a random occurrence with a person, they will create a parasocial narrative that manifests as them knowing this person.

Most schizophrenia delusions emerge from noise and thus have no actual information. You can uncover that it is a delusion by asking the person for details. For example, if they make a claim about remembering a past life in Egypt, you can do the equivalent of asking them who the President of the United States is now. I did that with this person. They were claiming to have known me and other people in a past life in Egypt 3000 years ago, so I looked up what was going on around that time. I asked them who the high priest was, who the pharaoh was, and what they remember happening around that time. All of it was wrong.

That caused most of that Discord to jump all over me and imply that it was fine because it was their personal gnosis. To be clear, this person is creating parasocial relationships and narratives based on delusional narratives that they are applying to random people they meet.

Phrasing things as they happened in a different reality or a past life is a way to avoid the falsification of and is a way to rationalize the delusion. Claiming that you knew a person in a past life is a way to justify the parasocial relationship. It is not unverified personal gnosis. It’s mental illness. There is nothing magical about mental illness. If I had a nickel for every time a schizophrenic occultist spun up a delusional narrative to justify an adversarial parasocial relationship with me, I’d be rich. This is a major problem.

  17. I used to argue against Heathen narratives that "queers get the bog" on historical grounds, but at this point, why bother? Might as well reclaim it.

That's right: We are those bog bodies reincarnate. We are here to corrupt your traditions and haunt your waking life. Fucking fight us.
