The groove and the beat
The melodies and the hard vocals
The strings and percussion
The power to move me
For this, glorious Apollo, I thank you
Art has always been a friend
In those times when I created it
To the times I could only admire it
The color and depth on a flat surface
And its power to fire the imagination
For this too I thank you, Apollo
Though I play no instrument
And my brain no longer gives me the talent
I see it all about me
In the curves of a building and a statue well made
I am driven to wonder by humanity’s skill
And this too, o Apollo, I am grateful for
