I read #FrankWaters "#TheBookOfTheHopi" many years ago, but misplaced my old copy. Refreshing myself on #HopiProphecy and what it all means for the times we are living in.
#EricCline's "#1177BC" has been a good read. I'm finding his chapter about a "perfect storm of calamities" to be relevant to the age we are living in now, especially with regard to #ClimateCrisis and #Polycrisis.
Graeber/Wengrow's "#TheDawnOfEverything" has taken me a while to get through... So much to take in. Learning about power and systems of power and their origins.
"The Occult Features of #Anarchism" by #EricaLagalisse also deals with systems of power -- and how #MutualAid is part of true autonomy (I agree).

"Partially funded by the #CIA at its inception, the company has faced heavy scrutiny after receiving a £330m ($413m) contract with #NHSEngland in 2023, which is up for renewal in 2027.
"It was also recently awarded a £240m deal with the British #MinistryOfDefence (#MoD) in December, three times more than a previous contract signed in 2022.
"Palantir entered into a strategic partnership with the MoD in September, in which it pledged a £1.5bn investment to 'boost military AI' and to 'work together to transform lethality in the battlefield', according to a government press release.
"Aspects of the deal included developing a so-called '#KillChain', which uses advanced data management and #AI to better strike 'enemy target[s]'.
"This increased integration of the tech firm within the UK’s health service and armed forces has raised alarm among campaigners, who point to the company’s involvement in the #genocide in #Gaza and US President Donald Trump’s lethal campaign against unauthorised immigration.

"The CEO of Palantir, the tech company known for equipping #ICE with #AITools that hack into people’s phones, recently said he runs 'the first company to be completely #AntiWoke.' This week, we learned that a key part of being anti-woke is, apparently, not paying taxes.
"In its recent earnings call summarizing fiscal year 2025, a Palantir exec crowed that the company’s explosive growth and profitability for the year was 'one of the truly iconic performances in the history of corporate performance.' But the company neglected to mention one weird trick that also fueled its 2025 growth: this is the third straight year that a profitable Palantir has avoided paying even a dime of federal income tax on its earnings.
"Palantir’s annual financial report, released this week, shows the company enjoyed $1.5 billion of U.S. income and paid exactly zero federal income tax. At the 21 percent federal income tax rate profitable companies theoretically pay, Palantir should have paid $330 million.
"While the company used a variety of tax breaks to achieve this, the most obvious is the new tax break enacted by Congress at the behest of President Trump last summer. The 'One #BigBeautifulBill' allows companies to (retroactively) immediately deduct their research expenses, rather than writing them off gradually over time in line with the income generated from that research. Palantir reduced its taxes by over $400 million using this provision.
"U.S. #taxpayers are paying multiple times for the services provided by Palantir, which the Trump administration finds so valuable. First, we pay the bill for the government contracts signed with the company, for example, the deal signed in April for Palantir to provide ICE with a system to track immigrants. Then we pay again with subsidies provided through the tax code, including the $400 million for the 'research' the company has done to create these innovations in government surveillance.
"It’s not news that helping the Trump administration with its policy goals can be enormously profitable. But it’s important to recognize that Palantir’s recent success has been helped substantially by a far more pedestrian tool: handouts from American taxpayers."

"Law enforcement agencies will soon have easier access to footage captured by Amazon’s Ring smart cameras. In a partnership announced this week, Amazon will allow approximately 5,000 local law enforcement agencies to request access to Ring camera footage via surveillance platforms from Flock Safety. Ring’s cooperation with law enforcement and the reported use of Flock technologies by federal agencies, including US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has resurfaced privacy concerns that have followed the devices for years.
"According to Flock’s announcement, its Ring partnership allows local law enforcement members to use Flock software 'to send a direct post in the Ring Neighbors app with details about the investigation and request voluntary assistance.' Requests must include 'specific location and timeframe of the incident, a unique investigation code, and details about what is being investigated,' and users can look at the requests anonymously, Flock said.
" 'Any footage a Ring customer chooses to submit will be securely packaged by Flock and shared directly with the requesting local public safety agency through the FlockOS or Flock Nova platform,' the announcement reads.
"Flock said its local law enforcement users will gain access to Ring Community Requests in 'the coming months.' "

In der Flut von kapitalen Nachrichten, die wir im letzten Monat hatten, war die Ankündigung einer europaweiten massiven #Aufrüstung bei weitem die folgenreichste für unsere kriegsentfremdeten Inseln.
Nach den schwindelerregenden #Ausgabenplänen Deutschlands und der EU sowie der verspäteten Erkenntnis der lokalen Mächte, dass die #Auslagerung der #Produktion an Konkurrenten vielleicht keine gute #Strategie war, sieht das Versprechen der #Labour-Partei, 2,5–3 % des BIP für die #Verteidigung auszugeben, nicht einmal wie das aggressivste Engagement aus.
Aber es scheint wahrscheinlich, dass das nächste Jahrzehnt auf mehreren Ebenen von Veränderungen geprägt sein wird, wobei der weitere Aufstieg rechtsextremer politischer Gruppen mit einem militärischen #Revival, einer permanenten #Neuausrichtung des „Great Game“ und höchstwahrscheinlich der Aufgabe von #Umweltverpflichtungen einhergeht, selbst wenn die Folgen der #Klimakrise buchstäblich in unser tägliches Leben eindringen.
Während wir auf diese #Katastrophe für die #Arbeiterklasse der Welt zusteuern (die gezwungen sein wird, die Kosten und Folgen zu tragen, während man ihr gleichzeitig sagt, dass sie selbst daran schuld ist), können und sollten die #Anarchisten #Großbritanniens daran arbeiten, sie zu stoppen. Aber wir müssen auch bedenken, dass wir, wie in den meisten der letzten vier Jahrzehnte, nicht über die nötigen Mittel verfügen werden, um dies zu tun oder es auch nur zu verlangsamen. Was sind unsere #Stärken, #Schwächen, #Chancen und #Risiken als Bewegung mit begrenzten Mitteln?
Stärken
Seien wir ehrlich, physisch haben wir im Moment nicht viele. Es gibt viele unverbundene lokale Gruppierungen, eine kleine (wenn auch lebhafte) Szene von #Hausbesetzern, ein paar Orte wie „Freedom“ oder „Star and Shadow“, ein paar Kooperativen wie „Radical Routes“, Verlage wie „Active“, etwas rechtliche Unterstützung, ein soziales #Randnetzwerk und so weiter. Das soll nicht heißen, dass es kein Potenzial gibt – wir haben schon früher ernsthafte Fortschritte gemacht. Die letzten drei Wellen anarchistisch geprägter Aktivitäten, 1999–2003, 2010–2013 und die Bewegung für gegenseitige Hilfe 2020–2021, sind noch nicht aus dem Gedächtnis verschwunden und haben viele Lehren zu ziehen. Außerdem gibt es eine große Welle von Ehemaligen, die möglicherweise von einem Angebot begeistert werden könnten, das einige Lektionen darüber gelernt hat, wie man Bewegungen nicht nur inspiriert, sondern auch aufrechterhält.Im Gegensatz zu unseren frenetischen Freunden in der #sozialdemokratischen und #gewerkschaftlichen Szene kämpfen wir nicht am falschen Ende eines Challenge-Fail-Zyklus und tatsächlich wurden viele unserer Vorhersagen über die Mängel des Corbynismus voll und ganz bestätigt. Wir haben ein hervorragendes aktuelles Beispiel für spontane gegenseitige #Massenhilfe (#Covid), auf das wir verweisen können, wenn wir für den (Wieder-)Aufbau dezentraler #Solidaritätsnetzwerke in der Arbeiterklasse plädieren. Obwohl es uns an großen föderalen Organisationen fehlt, die das ganze Land abdecken können, verfügen wir über Räume, die als Knotenpunkte für schnelles Wachstum dienen könnten, sowie zumindest über einige freundschaftliche Kontakte zu Zentren, die von Gleichgesinnten betrieben werden (Friends Meeting Houses, #Arbeitervereine, #Arbeitergenossenschaften und dergleichen).
Und trotz all der vielen Schrecken, die vor uns liegen, wird unsere #Politik wahrscheinlich durch das zunehmend repressive Verhalten der #Regierungen im In- und #Ausland schärfer konturiert werden. Die britische Öffentlichkeit hat sich im letzten Jahrzehnt insgesamt erstaunlich gleichgültig gezeigt, wenn es um den Schutz ihrer eigenen #Freiheiten ging. Sie schaute weg, als Proteste auf von der #Polizei genehmigte Spaziergänge reduziert wurden, während direkte Aktionen kriminalisiert und #Gefängnisstrafen verhängt wurden, während die Innenstädte im ganzen Land unter die ständige Beobachtung der gläsernen Augen von #BigBrother gestellt wurden. Wir können auf jahrelange Warnungen verweisen und Maßnahmen vorschlagen, wenn das eine oder andere Ereignis, das durch die neue Ordnung der Dinge ausgelöst wurde, die Öffentlichkeit dazu bringt, aufmerksam zu werden.
Die übliche linke, respektable Politik hat zu diesen Angriffen wenig Bemerkenswertes zu sagen, außer „das ist schlecht, mkay“, während der Free #Englishman Ruuule #Britannnia, der sogenannte Pro-Freiheits-Mob (Spiked!, rechte Broadsheets usw.) dies entweder ignoriert oder aktiv zu mehr anstachelt. Anarchisten sind eine der wenigen Gruppierungen, die nicht nur konsequent vor einem Problem gewarnt oder vage über #Westminster gejammert haben, das sich absolut nicht darum schert, sondern sich auch dafür eingesetzt und manchmal Maßnahmen ergriffen haben, um es zu bekämpfen. Während der Phase der Anti-Masken-#Pandemie haben einige unserer verschwörerischeren Genossinnen und Genossen alles gegeben. Wenn wir klug vorgehen, gibt es viel Spielraum für Gegenwehr. Wir verfügen über aktuelles und historisches Know-how über den wahren Stand der Gesetze und unsere gepriesenen „Freiheiten“, was uns auf der Straße einen übergroßen Einfluss verschafft, wenn Schocks wie eine Welle des militärischen #Nationalismus über uns hereinbrechen.
