So....for this #constraintprogramming thing
I have a bunch of individual job getting put into the solver. I'm requerying everything from scratch on every iteration because things can change and being responsive to that is exactly what this project is about.
However, I also want to keep the near future in the schedule relatively stable for a number of reasons. Human factors, for instance. Also there's some race conditions that can happen when the current time is within the duration of a job. Like what if the job disappears? Or if something just barely more important arrives--how valuable is avoiding rocking the boat vs doing the optimal task?
Ideally I would just hold the jobs in the near future as a constant. However, based on past experience I doubt the feasibility of even identifying "the same jobs" on each iteration (cf: "things can change" and also Ship of Theseus).
I've come up with a scheme that tries to hold the *gaps* between jobs as a (near) constant instead. That has its own complications.
Maybe I should go back to the original problem of trying to make the jobs identifiable even if they change....?
But that's not just hard, it also makes it the problem of a #software #developer in the future. (I'm not being thoughtful here, I'm being pessimistic that they'll do it right)
I guess I'll just Do The Best I Can on my end and make sure the users have the ability to control the rest.
Ugh.

Dear #developer,
I’m reaching out to you to offer you an #opportunity to make you and your #projects better known.
#Unitoo (unitoo.it/en), in 2019 started a #radio (radio.unitoo.it) dedicated to #FOSS and #CreativeCommon #music.
I’d love for you to join them and contribute to some content.
You’ll be entitled to a 3 minutes free #audio recording, to #promote your #code #repository and a chance to discover new #opportunities in the #world of #Software #Development.
A looped #broadcasting of such content/media will be scheduled to grant everyone the chance to promote their #work.
At first a recording in #English would be preferable to reach a wider #audience.
How to join? Send them an email with the following:- #voice recording
- a #title
- #Author’s name
- a brief #summary of your project
- #link to the code repository in question at radio dot unitoo dot it and they’ll handle the rest. This is just the #beginning.
They have #planned a #series of #podcast that can feature your project.
We believe FOSS is severely lacking in #visibility and want to #change that by providing a stage for you all to perform on. Your #contribution is greatly appreciated.Happy #HackListening!

(Yet another) new instance = new #introduction! Hi, I'm Laura. I'm a #DeveloperAdvocate @[email protected], writing #docs in the #extensibility and #WebAssembly spaces. Previously a #math prof. I'm in the #ADHD or maybe #AuADHD zone of the #Neurodivergent world.
I'm comfiest in #Python but am learning #Go, and I'm into #ResponsibleAI, #BicycleInfrastructure, #ResearchAsRecreation, #SocialJustice, #pedagogy, #OwnYourData, #a11y, and #FuckWhiteSupremacy.
I like meeting kind people who do neat things! -
I've truly loved my time at Suborbital, and now I'm looking to #GetFediHired and grow in a new role. 🤗 Please give me a shout if you know any great orgs hiring for fully remote roles! I'm a #DeveloperAdvocate with a background in education, and I've owned docs at Suborbital. I'm strongest in #Python but excited to learn new languages too.

So, apparently #JSDoc *is* #TypeScript now! 😂 In a twist no one saw coming, adding comments to #JavaScript is the same as a whole new language! 🚀 I'm sure the TypeScript devs are thrilled to hear their work boiled down to some docstring wizardry. 🙄

I just received another positive feedback from a #developer I have been bugging for years and who has now started implementing #linuxsupport (no ETA as of now). 🙂
I'm talking about Acon Digital, creators of the Acoustica #audioeditor and the Restoration Suite #plugin (s), among others.
To share my excitement, you can take a look at their lineup here:

I'm as excited about the rumors of improved desktop modes and video out support for the Pixel 8 as the next guy, but we've fielded these kinds of rumors before.
Currently the only phone I have that can run an Android 14 beta, AND has video out, just did this using the desktop mode in Android dev settings.
Which is even more broken than the A13 desktop mode, which was already almost nonfunctional from the A12 mode.
I really WANT Google to give us a Pixel 8 with a proper desktop or tablet large screen mode, but I'm not getting my hopes up until we see the phone in action.

Because of the generic nature of the terms, I'm having trouble searching for something that should have a page in the Nuxt docs somewhere:
I want to use an existing Web Component (developed by a third party) in a Nuxt app. It is having trouble with the SSR and I can't figure out how to work around it so that the web component is named in the template area but is only initialized in the browser.
Or, alternately, what I can tell the developer to do differently to make it work. It says it can't find "HTMLElement".

Hello, World! This is my #introduction post. I'm me, you're you (at least I hope so), and I'm glad to be here with you.
I talk about politics, #infosec, bad jokes, memes, and the terrible things we're expected to just accept in the name of capitalism and making the rich richer. Black Lives Matter, trans rights are human rights, sex work is work. SWERFs, TERFs, Nazis, and their apologists need not apply.
I'm an infosec generalist, working on securing both back-end infra and client devices. #ZeroTrust, #2FactorAuthentication, #certificates (both TLS and SSH), are major focus areas for me.
I'm also a reasonable #software #developer (just don't ask me to pass a software engineering interview loop) and a pretty good #Linux and #OpenBSD sysadmin. I also know my way around #database systems, preferably #PostgreSQL or #MySQL.
I like to think I'm reasonably competent at what I do. My employer has agreed for over 15 years at this point, for whatever that's worth.
What would I say it is I do here? When I'm not guarding my stapler, I like to read fantasy novels and I play #GenshinImpact and #HonkaiStarRail. I'm also making my way through #TearsOfTheKingdom slowly. No multi-player games for me, not even tabletop anymore, but I might watch if you're streaming.

Playing with libav.js [1] (#ffmpeg in #javascript through #emscripten)
TIL about "async functions" [2]. Seems like moving from "normal" to "async" is a one-way street - normal functions can be easily called in an async context, but it looks like there's no way to get the value of an async function in sync context.
Yes, I can ".then(...)" on the return value, but then I'm back in callback hell and no longer "sync", am I...

I don’t know why, but I never did an #Introduction post. So here it goes…
#Software #developer who works at #Microsoft/#MicrosoftEDU. Makes products work better for #teachers and #students in #k12 #education. I work on #ImmersiveReader and #ReadingProgress. Both help with #accessibility and #LanguageLearning.
I'm #gay, #liberal and live in #seattle. I love #tech, #cooking and #recipes. #Athiest involved in #ReligiousEducation and a member of a #UU church. #ENTJ. #Cat person.

My employer, after 7 months of work, fired me overnight. Because I would be too "finicky" about code quality and security risks, which would better suit "a bank or cybersecurity company".
So I'm again #lookingForJob, either at #Montpellier (France) or #fullRemote. I am a #fullStack #developer with almost 10 years of experience on #php, #symfony, #html, #css, #javascript (#jquery and I'm also learning #vue). I am fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The more I think about it, the more I’m confident that it’ll be possible to test a #RealityOS application directly from an iPhone ARKit context. The platform would be far more successful for developers to onboard on if they don’t necessary have to invest 3k to start building things. At least as long as we have a developer account around 🙃 #iOSdev #Apple
