  1. There's something new at Firestorm! 🚲🚲🚲

This custom bike rack has been in the works for a while, but it's arriving at the perfect time because our street is getting bike lanes! The Haywood Road resurfacing project is currently underway and includes major upgrades for cyclists and pedestrians.

With space for six bikes, this awesome rack was designed by local artist David Earl Tomlinson / Dynamic Metalwork whose prior creations for our co-op can be seen inside and outside the bookshop.

Biking isn't just good for you and your environment, it's also a form of transportation that reduces neighborhood congestion, respects your privacy, and still works when a hurricane shuts down every gas station in the region for two weeks (ask us how we know).

See you at the bike rack! 🌞

  2. Make cycling ordinary again

Cycling "in Australia, is still closely tied to being male, wearing a lot of Lycra, owning an expensive bike and costly cycling gear and riding really fast."

"In places where cycling functions as everyday transport – such as large parts of Europe and Asia – people ride in work clothes, at relaxed speeds, on practical bikes."

  3. Did you know that you can find hundreds of strategies, manuals and studies about #bicycle infrastructure from around the world over on bicycleinfrastructuremanuals.c ?

I recently needed a specific document from my municipality, and I found it not on their official website, but on this website – because I sent it to them years ago and they added it. So if you find something missing, send them a link and they'll download it and add it to their archive.

  4. Oh, nice, separated bicycle lanes, didn't know Orange County was progressive enough to put those in (Santa Ana, CA). #BicycleInfrastructure
