May #Reticulum become a default network stack on all #FLOSS OSes: BSD, Linux, OpenIndiana, Haiku, Plan9, etc :D …
And reimplement finger, talk, etc to use reticulum :D

@dillo maybe consider:
Absolute URLs are exclusively for hyperlinks to another webpage.
Webpages should have been restricted to load files only by relative URLs & never load any file by absolute URLs.
Also, per website style design was a terrible UX and accessibility mistake
#Stylesheets should've been something you install in your own browser such that "the web" would have the uniform look and feel you prefer.
Just a thought

Linux is just a phase, eventually you will end up on a BSD

As a species we really need to consider making UV-C lamps at the entrance, kitchen, bathroom, etc mandatory
( With movement sensors: switch off when mammal enters, switch on as soon as there is no mammal present )
And HEPA filters + UV-C lights on any air intake ^.^

@Pierrec @ami_angelwings the words used in that passage are kinda hush hush tones of sexual exploitation & perversion #LostInTranslation
Maybe more like their version of what the #DoorDashGirl did

Given how #LLMs work, it would make sense to treat LLMs the same way as other stochastic way of divination and consult demons or oracles, like tarot cards, throwing bones, tea leafs, etc…
It's been a long while since The Holy Scripture had it's last expansion pack, but I'm sure the next expansion pack will at least contain a prohibition on making and consulting LLMs

CW: Cryptocurrency Advice
(0) Don't do it
If you ignore 0:
(1) Don't talk about #cryptocurrency
(2) it's not an investment
(3) USE A PASSWORD MANAGER
(4) SAVE YOUR SEED/PASSWORD OFFLINE
(5) Run a #FullNode over #tor & #i2p whenever possible (24/7)
(6) Always control/host your own wallets (self-custody)
(7) Keep your wallets offline,
only use it to sign & send transactions via your own node
(8) Avoid (casino) tokens which don't allow you to run a full node or mine your own: They are a scam -

#Apple should’ve ignored the (pseudo) AI hype
Continue #NeuralAccelerator hardware & #MLX software development, enable running useful LLM locally
Partner with Steam, make running #Games on #macOS & porting to #iOS trivially easy
Embrace a “local first, intermittent connections, eventually consistent” view of the future
Be an alternative to the “cloud first, always on, always connected” future everyone else in trying to sell
Focus on #HomeAutomation

#IMHO every #ContactsApplication should have a "Tea or coffee" field, with perhaps add some room for "Sugar?" "Milk?"

"Governments, if they endure, always tend increasingly toward aristocratic forms. No government in history has been known to evade this pattern. And as the aristocracy develops, government tends more and more to act exclusively in the interests of the ruling class — whether that class be hereditary royalty, oligarchs of financial empires, or entrenched bureaucracy."

Especially with "generative AI" being available I don't see how one can do any kind of objective "age verification" reliably, without some kind of (government or (paid) 3rd party) doing what is essential an "identity verification" or de-anonymization & some kind of permanent audit trail being created outside your control maintained by middlemen: government or third party

A #DieHard movie is at it's core a heist movie, with an impressive & clear villain as protagonist, civilian(s) taken hostage, bantering between the (accidental) hero (antagonist) & villain (protagonist), a ticking countdown clock + claustrophobic feel, a memorable musical score framing & informing the story, often with annoyingly rule following official(s) being useless & some comic relief characters

Any attempt to reimagine a (viable) #LispMachine would not just recreate what was, it would have to imagine what could've been and how lisp machines may have evolved since 1990s… eg: support for GUI, multitasking, WiFi, internet, World Wide Web, multi-gesture touchpads, touchscreens, multi-core cpus, 8 GB RAM, virtual machines, … just to name a few

"If at all applicable to your intent, you must design your applications to embrace Store & Forward
Instead of demanding an immediate answer, your application should act as a patient participant. You create a message for someone or something in the mesh. The network holds it. It carries it from node to node, perhaps over hours or days, waiting for the recipient to appear. When they finally surface, the message is delivered"

#RightToRepair should be enough but it's not because it gets (re)interpreted as
"a right to get it repaired by a licensed & authorise repair shop"
We need better!
We need a #RightToSalvage w/o having to ask permission or pay for authorisation
We need a #RightToInteroperability so things work together
We need a #RightToPreserve to keep our culture from disappearing
We need a #RightToEncryption to have a private life
We need a #RightToInformation to get the schematics, repair manuals, etc

@orsinium I know, they stole email from us claiming to combat spam and somehow there is still spam
==Email==
Maybe I only need to receive email over SMTP.
Otherwise email transfer using NNCP with known-trusted-hosts of friends and family?
Perhaps #FOAF even?
Perhaps as part of NNCPNET?
Maybe (text-only) #USENET also via NNCP?
Edit: bc I just found #NNCP and #NNCPNET and think this could be a solution
==Webdev==
I can use #RubyOnRails as needed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If I was the EU:
I'd get as far away from USA tech, economy, & thinking, become as incompatible as possible
I'd expand consumer laws: #RightToRepair, #RightToSalvage, #RightToInteroperability, #RightToPreserve, #RightToEncryption, #RightToHack, etc…
Rewrite tax laws so that you can only get a tax write-off on anything digital if you release it as open source
I'd massively invest in alternatives for the internet, which don't use the internet protocol stack, like meshcore, reticulum, etc…
-
@jima There is no incentive for the USA to support it, they have their IPv4, they are currently totally focused on themselves and actually hostile towards the rest of the world. They have no reason to go to IPv6 just to be able to connect to countries POTUS considers "asshole counties". Yes, these incentives could someday change… who knows? Even if the USA someday become less isolator, open minded, this will take a lot of time & may not happen before #TheJackpot, #TheReset, #WW3, or #Armageddon
