There's ten companies in the world who have real access to GPUs, and five of those rent from the other five. They build data centers where nobody wants them, for companies that use it to justify layoffs.
Everybody else uses it to generate cat pictures, outsource their thinking, and cheat on tests. No surprise, most AI strategies at Fortune 2000 companies are, basically, "We're using copilot".
We underfund universities, who are charged with solving some of the most urgent problems of our time, yet are left without access to GPUs. We could solve cancer, dementia, create models to improve weather prediction, traffic management, and much more.
I am not surprised people are against data centers. I am surprised that it's taken this long. It's time we re-claim sovereignty over accelerated computing. That is why I am doing what I am doing.
