Nobody registers paypa1.com by accident. I'd lumped every lookalike domain together until I wrote the chip for it, and now the app tells two distances apart. Map the 1 to an l or the rn to an m and paypa1 spells the brand. That chip says Imitates. A name one letter off could be a typo or an honest domain, so its chip just says Similar to.
The skeleton trick is the whole check, and it runs on the phone against the top domains.

I'd assumed a scratch is a scratch to a QR code. The damage corpus says direction matters. A white band across the middle of a level H symbol beat both readers at a tenth of its height. Turn the same band top to bottom and it still reads at a fifth of the width.
The data snakes up and down the symbol in two-module columns. So a vertical band eats a few codewords whole, and a horizontal one nicks nearly all of them. A nicked codeword costs as much as a missing one.
