I find "news", discussion, and chatter about how much a movie made at the box office sort of trivial, sometimes even repulsive.
Did people enjoy a movie or not? Did a film elicit feelings or not? Did the art move the audience or not? That's what I would like to know.

"Community" like "Friend" has been devalued by inappropriate overuse to broad-brush a wide range of generic attributes.
Just as I am "broad-brushing" this statement to describe the Fediverse "community".
I won't tell you NOT to try and change my mind, but I will wish you luck should you try... I see what I see, I witness what I witness.
There are "givers", there are "takers", but for a community to truly function there must be that rarest of breeds - "sharers".

NixOS c'est vraiment de la bonne grosse 💩, de mon point de vue, ça n'a strictement aucun intérêt en tant que système d'exploitation. C'est beaucoup trop rigide et ajoute de la complexité là où elle n'est pas désirable.
Pour le développement par contre, je vois l'avantage d'avoir un Nix Flakes pour créer des environnements de développement reproductibles sans dépendre de saloperies comme Docker en travaillant depuis un subshell.
L'idée est intéressante en tant que concept, mais dans la pratique, le langage Nix, les paquets non maintenus et les problèmes de gouvernance me refroidissent.

Yes, the quality is high, and the breading is nice, but the sauce is not even that good and that chicken almost completely unseasoned.
Lemme put it this way:
That chicken is so "white," you could tape it to the front of your car and go on a drive through the darkest, most rural parts of the country and not even notice the lack of illumination!

Those posting idealistic quotes - especially regarding environment - in form of JPEGs and PNGs weighting megabytes or hundreds of kilobytes, while entire quote is up to just a few hundred of characters, should educate themselves before trying to school everyone else. Or at least mention it's actual greenwashing - attention whoring disguised as sharing "smart"/"insightful" quote.

There should've been an official #swarm protocol to distribute loading of (suddenly) popular pages to prevent them going accidental offline! This bug is as old as slashdotting for heaven sake and we still have not fixed it!

I loved “The Hobbit”, because it is a child’s adventure story.
I hate the #LOTR movie series. It is full of adult themes, like politics, race, war, romance, and crap.
Tolkien would probably not have liked LOTR fans. Tolkien was of the opinion that we should take care of the forests, and value food, friendship, music, merriment and simple joys, over gold.
LOTR fans don’t seem to be environmentally conscious, just over-entertained bourgeoisie, obsessing over their collection of authentic elvish swords made of plastic, participating in consumerism and not caring about the Earth.

We only now have decent control of it after thousands of years and hundreds of thousands died in fires but should we abolish fire?Is there only one potential outcome to using AI just like many of us only saw one potential outcome of using the internet? Back then it was liberal utopia, now it‘s authoritarian dystopia.

#unpopularopinion C'est classique, PISA est sorti et tout le monde s'excite. Dans ma timeline, ça s'offusque largement des liens qui sont faits entre « écrans », « réseaux sociaux » et baisse du niveau.
Bien sûr que cette situation est pluricausale. Bien sûr que l'École est malmenée depuis des années. Mais dire ou laisser dire que le numérique (comprendre ici les médias asociaux dominants) n'y est pour rien, c'est du technorassurisme. J'en parle depuis 2024

Bevor wir nach mehr Maskulinität in der #Krankenpflege rufen, warum nicht wie bei #FrauenInSTEM erstmal weiblich konnotierte Eigenschaften anerkennen, feiern und bei Männern auffordern?Frauen müssen in männerdominierten Bereichen beweisen, dass sie es genauso gut können. In der Pflege ist auf einmal ein Mann notwendig, um Ruhe in Krisensituationen auszustrahlen, und benachteiligt, wenn er bei Positionierung helfen soll.
