RE: https://kolektiva.social/@Hex/116595342311513742
I've had the idea of trying to create an open source archive of such scenarios, like "table top anarchy campaigns" or like, "anarchist pre-calisthenics." So this is a set of table top exercises with a set of branching scenarios, rooted in real life experience (to the greatest degree possible).
#DearLazyWeb (#Anarchist lazy web): does anyone know if anything like this already exists?

#DearLazyWeb: this is a bit of an unusual request, but I'm trying to find more information on the technical logistics of resistance tunnel building, from Vietnam, to Syria, to Gaza. There have been a bunch of videos on tunnel warfare, and including a lot of info about the US preparing for tunnel war.
I've been #writing some near-future #fiction and I'd like to include some of this, and I like to have depth of knowledge for realism.
So any military history geeks out there have any leads?

#DearLazyWeb ( #Nederland #HamRadio edition): I have small kids. My oldest is just turning 7. I have an idea of starting to introduce radios to them and some other parents are also interested.
I'm starting with walkie talkies and basic radio protocol. My thought is to try to play a few games of "keep talking and no one explodes" over walkie talkie, then trying to expand that out into an informal radio net or something. I have some other ideas for projects, like downloading weather satellite data or something (but I think this may be a bit too advanced, perhaps).
I've also been thinking about playing a bit with LoRa radios (meshcore or reticulum), but I haven't yet figured out an application that would be fun for kids.
One parent suggested a kids radio broadcast. In the US it's possible to get a local FM license (within about 2 kilometers) for community stations and educational use and such. Is there any similar program here in NL?
Extra question for #Ham operators: are there other simple kid friendly projects you can think of?
For parents (to gauge interest outside of my weird little circle): one goal here is getting kids into radio to build the next generation of disaster communication. Is this something you would be excited about for your kids? Is this something you would be interested in seeing as an after school program?

Hey, Fedi, throw me your favourite quickish, lowish carb, solidly "Italian" dinner recipes.
I kinda feel pasta'd and risotto'd out at the moment.
Most of what I can think of is chicken, and I kinda eat chicken every lunch time at the moment... it's not out-out, but it'd need to be pretty compelling.
The pre-dinner shopping options are Tesco and a good local farm shop.
Vegetarian is absolutely an option.
I'm at work and the Italian cook books I'd normally try to draw some inspiration from are thus inaccessible. (And web searching for recipes is soooooooooo crap and painful.)

#DearLazyWeb: A while back someone posted a screen cap of Google getting confused between Voyager's "The Doctor" and "Doctor Who."
I'm writing something up about LLMs and I'd really like to reference it. I'm gonna go through my boosts and hope I can find it, but could anyone with it handy save me a few hours of data spelunking?
Edit: @franklinlopez found it. Awesome. lol!

I'm thinking of maybe purchasing a #3dprinter in the next month or two.
My absolute requirements are that *using* the printer should require 0 proprietary software. That is, the minimum level of openness is like a postscript laser printer.
I want something that can print stuff like around a cubic foot/30cm3
Maybe with two different filaments? So I can have a different support material spooled in? Maybe a heated chamber? I dunno if that's really necessary.

#DearLazyWeb: As part of #DisasterPreparedness organizing in the past, our group did a table top exercise to identify gaps in our response capabilities. We were fortunate enough to have someone who worked in public health make one and GM it for us.
I found some from FEMA with some quick searching. Assuming a group of 5-10 people organizing for themselves (and maybe folks in their neighborhoods), are there any exercises/table top simulations like these that other folks would recommend?
https://www.fema.gov/emergency-managers/individuals-communities/what-would-you-do-scenarios
I'd be especially interested in anything that considers intentional systemic collapse scenarios, like, "Some jackass shuts down the government and refuses to pay SNAP" and other things like "FEMA doesn't come to help because it's been disbanded by ghouls."

#DearLazyWeb: Hey #Nederlanders ik heb en expat vrag over mijn #VvE. Our management company is absolute garbage. Our VVE management company recently scheduled repainting, during winter, with the most incompetent company possible, who did a horrible job, some of which didn't need to be done. Our windows had just been repainted since they were painted before we moved in, so 1/3 of the work they did was unnecessary, and now they look much worse than they did before. I could go on, but generally lots and lots of complaints along with absolutely terrible service.
Our upstairs neighbor (also an owner) also hates them and wants to switch, but a rental company owns the top half of the building and seems to be trying to force us in to staying. Basically, this management company is super cheap and the rental company are absolutely trash absentee leaches. (They *may* also have not been paying their part of the VvE fees for a while, but I'm not totally sure I understood everything.)
Unfortunately, I am way out of my depth and can't seem to get much help from google. Can anyone give me some advice about what to read or who to talk to, or are we actually stuck?

#DearLazyweb: I'm trying to avoid buying anything from the US. What #meshtastic options are available from non-US companies?
Edit: thank you @sebastian, for the answer of "basically all of them." :)

Fellow members of the Emacs Org Mode cult:
Is there a way to toggle visibility of a heading plus the entire subtree underneath it? For example, suppose I have this:
* Fish Some text in Fish. ** A Fish subheading Blah blah blah. * Broccoli Some text in Broccoli. ** A Broccoli subheading Etc etc. * Molybdenum Hi. My atomic number is 42. ** A Molybdenum subheading Some text about the wondrous properties of Molybdenum. Then I run some magical function
(hide-top-level-trees-matching-re ".*Broccoli.*"). Afterwards, although the buffer's text would be unmodified, I would see this...* Fish Some text in Fish. ** A Fish subheading Blah blah blah. * Molybdenum Hi. My atomic number is 42. ** A Molybdenum subheading Some text about the wondrous properties of Molybdenum....and searches, etc, would behave accordingly: if I did an isearch for "Broccoli", I would not find any matches, etc.
I could probably implement this using the excellent hide-lines.el package. But maybe Org Mode offers something like this already? I've been looking around the manual and elsewhere and haven't found it yet, though.

#dearlazyweb: is anyone aware of active #ADHD parenting groups in #Amsterdam, especially English speaking groups?

Do I know anyone that hosts a #peertube? I'm thinking of hosting one myself for <insert secret project> and even after reading the documentation I'm still not entirely sure what it does. It hosts videos but how do people find them? Does it work like Mastodon? People have home servers and they subscribe to feeds? Does the server admin decide what feeds the server shows?
Is it even a reasonable thing to host your own if you want people to actually see your videos?

#dearlazyweb: I seem to remember a group that was archiving zines. I have a box of zines from the last decade or so wondering if anyone wants to digitize them or anything.

Dear Mastomind / Lazywebs: Is it feasible for a Web browser itself to support toggling support of video (or audio) support or codecs absent injecting JS into a page for that purpose?
My hope is that it might be possible to toggle the availability / support of common video codecs (such as: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, HEVC/H.265, VP9, and AV1), so that a browser would simply ignore an video / audio content.
I'm hearing that this is not trivially possible. If that's not the case ... I'd be quite happy.
Boosts / tagging clueful devs appreciated.

#dearlazyweb, specially #dutch lazyweb
I'm trying to understand #bike parking laws in #Netherland. We have a bakfiets. It's been really hard to park. Someone recommended parking in a car parking spot. Someone in a car told us to move so they could park. Is it legal for bikes to park in car spots or could our bike be impounded by the city if we don't comply?

#dearlazyweb, I'm looking for #solarpunk podcasts. I've been listening to a lot of "It Could Happen Here" which is great, but I need something more hopeful.
The Revolutionary's Garden is a nice example. Whenever Andrewism is on "It Could Happen Here" it definitely feels a lot more light. What other suggestions do you have?

Does the concept of dividing technology in "freestanding" vs. "integrated" ring bells for anyone?
I'm trying to track this down. Thought that #UsulaMFranklin might have been a source, but her Massey Lectures text doesn't include the terms AFAICT.

I'm looking for tools to create / edit ePub documents, preferably directly from URLs and employing the Readability library.
The ability to append to a given document would be quite useful --- additional web pages should be treated as chapters.
Best options would be Linux (Termux/Android) or Android applications or tools.
What's out there?
I am of course familiar with #Pandoc which addresses HTML->ePub conversion, but not the Readability library element, or editing the generated pubs.

Is there a band in the #Riverdale TV series? Besides the Archies or Josie and the Pussycats?
I just discovered #TheVeronicas which are a real band, but I thought they were fictional from the show! Is there any basis for my confusion?
