There is a reason this is #MentalHealthMonth
While people assume that winter is when suicides take place the most, it is actually April, May, and June.One interesting correlation is how Springtime allergens and inflammation exacerbate mental health issues.
Add energy shifts overcoming lethargy, and I can see how this is such a dangerous time.
It is classically when my depression is overwhelming.

@adrianco I decided to take this advice, but I took a leadership point of view and brought it up to the entire team instead of just my boss.
In our morning status when we got to the parking lot I asked the team if I could show some vulnerability for a minute. That this was hard for me to bring up, but I have a hearing disability, and use CC heavily. That it gets stuff wrong all the time, and if everyone could please be patient if you say my name and I don't answer right away, because I am reading CC.
This was scary for me. I did this at my last job and everyone got silent and the whole thing got uncomfortable. One particular person blocked me from being given admin. It was a nightmare.
But here, I got heart emojis from the team. People started troubleshooting how to help me in big meetings, the Director was on and also spoke up to ask for me to also be patient with them when they forget, but they are all here to support.

I've been (slowly, because it's an emotionally intense journey) reading the Tillerman Cycle of young adult novels by Cynthia Voigt. Because I couldn't remember her, even though in a high school English paper that turned up in a box on my porch, I mentioned her as a favorite author.
I think I couldn't remember her because her novels hit with pinpoint accuracy a lot of the feelings I experienced growing up in an abusive family. They resonated so much that she was a favorite at the time, but my brain couldn't hold on to any information about the books because it was too real and too much to process while I still wasn't safe.
