#Copilot and I finally added a #tts (text to speech) backend to our AI #chatbot in our Project AEye. The browser chatbot ran Qwen3 30B A3B on llama.cpp. The chatbot generates a text inference that is sent to a server which routes it to an MCP server that controls the #Supertonic tts AI to speak.
To make the speech smooth, we used a small buffer at the beginning and streamed the text as chunks (50 tokens per chunk). There was a 2 second delay before the tts AI started speaking.

Our energy supplier Octopus (UK) is normally decent. Then I needed to do something - change a tariff - that wasn't on a web menu. My first email was "answered" by a chatbot, badly. After a second failure I looked up the escape path to human backup.
The human made contact, went silent for a day; and then delivered what I'd asked + something I didn't want.
I'm not going to complain about that human. They're being mistreated.

That, and the gullibility of executives and politicians championing #GenAISlop because they are drunk on the #KoolAid served up to make them believe that #TextRegurgitator machines will pay big dividends.That’s what I’m tired of seeing/hearing.
How that particular slice of the AI tech revolution got to this is testament to the ingenuity of those sob #TechBros using smoke and mirrors and duping the #speculative #FinancialMarkets.Hunker down for a stupefying #GenAIBubble busrt folks, ‘cause it’s coming.

At the end of the process - after ‚sending an email to the recruiter - you had the option to use a #chatBot to refine the application. The chat was just the typical recruitment questions disguised as a chat conversation. Most annoyingly, it didn’t offer any more flexibility than the typical forms. It insisted for example on a number for my target salary. -
