Proton's Lumo AI has pretty much replaced Wikipedia for me. I ask Lumo a question, and I get the same quality of information I used to get from Wikipedia, but it's more targeted, more concise, because I asked a SPECIFIC QUESTION instead of finding a Wikipedia article on a TOPIC.
(It would probably work with any AI, but I use Lumo).
With Lumo, there's a toggle to enable/disable web browsing. If you disable the web, Lumo can only answer questions from its training dataset, which is fine for some things. But more and more I'm just leaving the web toggle enabled, because for my use cases more current information than the training dataset is generally required.
As with any digital research, you still need to exercise caution. I have occasionally gotten wrong answers. AI resources are an ASSISTANT for your mind, not a REPLACEMENT for your mind.
Artificial Intelligence works best when you continuously apply critical thinking skills to every step of the problem solving process.

Ich möchte an dieser Stelle nochmal darauf hinweisen, dass #Mistral leider nur bedingt eine Alternative zu #ChatGPT ist, da Mistral seit letztem Jahr aus den Vereinigten Arabischen Emiraten finanziert wird.

Lumo AI by Proton - This is quite interesting! They use Cloudflare as a transport-layer proxy (similar to Cloudflare Spectrum). The claim is that this keeps things secure because TLS is not terminated at the edge. Well - yes and no. Cloudflare can still intercept all traffic at any time: they control the TCP stream, operate their own CA, and can silently swap TLS certificates or modify the JavaScript encryption code before it reaches your browser. The user would never notice. Firma Proton, znana z tworzenia zorientowanych na prywatność narzędzi, takich jak Proton Mail, uruchomiła własnego asystenta AI o nazwie Lumo.
Nowy chatbot ma wyróżniać się na rynku dzięki zaawansowanym funkcjom ochrony danych, w tym pełnemu szyfrowaniu i polityce braku logów.
Lumo oferuje kilka kluczowych mechanizmów ochrony prywatności. Firma zapewnia, że nie przechowuje żadnych logów z rozmów, a historia czatów jest chroniona szyfrowaniem end-to-end. Dostępny jest również „tryb ducha” (ghost mode), w którym konwersacje znikają natychmiast po zamknięciu okna. Zastosowano także szyfrowanie „zero-access”, co oznacza, że tylko użytkownik na swoim urządzeniu może odszyfrować historię rozmów.

Lumo jest drugim narzędziem AI w portfolio firmy, po asystencie pisania w Proton Mail wprowadzonym w zeszłym roku. Jego debiut stanowi ważną alternatywę na rynku chatbotów, skierowaną do użytkowników, dla których ochrona danych i prywatność są absolutnym priorytetem, w odróżnieniu od modeli stosowanych przez największych graczy technologicznych.

"You're all in on AI now, Lumo?"... I'm not, this is a hype cycle, like all the rest except in this case many more functions of business are involved. The other thing is that AI means different things to whomever you are asking. My stance has always been if their is utility, let's find it. This is how I think smart people approach new and novel things, or at least people observing the landscape before they throw their hard earned coins into the slots. Generative AI being right around the corner? Doubt it, but using "AI" for personal assistants in tandem with search? It's the logical progression of finding and learning. It's not like that is novel, it's just difficult for big search engines to monetize when you stop typing google.com in your web browser. Once a path forward is found to inserting ads safely, it'll be done. In those cases it'll likely come at the costs of further turning you into a product and "you" being one solitary person, group or functional business. So yes, privacy first "AI" assistant with search? That should be applauded. #ai #personal_assistant #proton #lumo
