Chairman Verlon Jose told tribal members planning to march on Indigenous Peoples Day on Monday that the 'no trespass' order is still in effect.
So while border wall contractors rip up their relatives, #Saguaros, protected plants in Arizona, no real protests are allowed here, especially by outsiders.
In a late night series of events, Tohono O'odham marchers said they will march and pray anyway, and welcomed #NonOodham to join them at 6 am on Monday beginning at #Bashas in Sells.
What this really means if you're not O'odham, and you are willing to risk being harassed, turned around, or possibly arrested and your car seized by the US #BorderPatrol or #TohonoOodhamNation #police, you're welcome to join the walk south from Bashas at the early hour of 6 am.
There will be a caravan for the long stretch to the camp at the San Miguel gate at the border.
The US Border Patrol which is already out-of-control and violent here, does whatever it wants. The only question is, how will they carry out their barbaric crusade this time.
Meanwhile, it's around midnight, and as Indigenous Peoples Day arrives, Chairman #VerlonJose says the way to honor Indigenous Peoples Day is to go #vote.
The border wall contractors will be killing Saguaros, and making big money doing it.

"That marked the third day the site, dubbed "Camp O:Shad" by the activists, has been raided by Border Patrol agents.

"A federal judge rejected the #TohonoOodhamNation 's injunction request Thursday, allowing the #Trump administration to begin removing #saguaros and #ocotillos in the path of #BorderWall construction in #Arizona early next week.
"On Monday, Riyaz A. Kanji, an attorney for the #TohonoOodham Nation, filed an emergency motion asking the Washington D.C court to intervene because the case has moved to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals and they have said they will not listen to arguments until later this year. The appellate court asked attorneys representing the Department of Homeland Security to file motions by Oct. 15 with replies from the tribe scheduled for Oct. 22.
"However, #DHS officials have said they intend to 'commence significant activity on the reservation in furtherance of his border project' on Monday, Oct. 12. This will include the removal of thousands of saguaros and ocotillo that stand in the path of the construction project, Kanji wrote. 'The destruction of massive numbers of #SaguaroCacti that will commence early next week absent intervention by this court constitutes quintessential irreparable harm.' "

"The vigil comes days after crews cut down a #cottonwood estimated to be about 200 years old near #Lochiel to make way for the wall. Tohono O'odham Chairman #VerlonJose said crews plan to return Oct. 12 to start clearing vegetation along the Nation's border, including #saguaros.
" 'When people ask me what I think about the border and how does it make me feel, I tell them it is if someone got a knife and dragged it across my heart; it's a scar that never will be healed,' Jose told the crowd.
"The event began with a procession from Mission San Xavier del Bac to the San Xavier Community Center. Dozens walked carrying signs that read 'Tree spirits stand tall' and 'Don't let sacred saguaros be crucified like Jesus.'
"Jose became emotional as he addressed the crowd, telling them he had been crying even before he arrived. He said elders who once fought the wall have since died, and that some who remain say they don't want to live to see it built.
" 'The Tohono O'odham Nation will not stand down,' Jose told the crowd.
"In an interview with KGUN 9 after the vigil, Jose said #burial and #ArchaeologicalSites sit along the border in the wall's path.
" 'How would you like it if it came to your home, your apartment, to your gated community, and I destroyed your front yard, your backyard, and then asked you where are your relatives buried?' Jose said.
"He said those sites are known to the Nation and are kept private to keep them protected.
"Jose told the crowd the Nation's Legislative Council recognizes the #saguaro as a person.
" 'When you kill those, you're killing our children. You're killing our elders. You're killing our people, and we must protect them,' he said.
"On Monday, federal agents raided a #ProtestCamp near Lochiel in the #SanRafaelValley , where activists had kept a round-the-clock tree-sit for 71 days. Contractors then cut down the last of four #cottonwoods marked for removal. Activists said more than 10 people were arrested."

After a 71-day protest, the last of the 100-plus-year-old trees was cut down southeast of Tucson.

"Armed #BorderPatrol agents raided a protest camp in #Lochiel, in southeast #Arizona, making way for contractors to cut down the last standing cottonwood tree Monday morning for a double border wall, after protesters protected it for more than 70 days.
"Activists in Lochiel said at least 10 people had been arrested as of 8 a.m. during the ongoing raid. Border Patrol agents ignored demands for a warrant as they entered the private property and destroyed tents, according to news releases from activist groups on the ground.
"Dubbed the #GrandmotherTree , the cottonwood cut down Monday was hundreds of years old. It was one of several that lined the edge of private property along Border Road, a dirt road that runs along the U.S.-Mexico border, in a remote area of Arizona in the San Rafael Valley about 25 miles east of Nogales.
"U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Monday in a statement to #ArizonaLuminaria that it has now removed all four cottonwood trees on federal land in Lochiel that were marked for removal."

Wednesday, October 7, 2026, (22:00 Arizona time)Lochiel, Arizona - For the past six hours and counting, a protester in Tierra Libre has remained locked down to a construction vehicle owned and operated by Fisher Sand and Gravel, halting border wall construction.
Starting at approximately 5:30pm, and on three separate occasions, Fisher Sand and Gravel employees enveloped the protestor with a mylar emergency blanket and turned on the truck, deliberately filling the enclosure with exhaust and subjecting her to potentially deadly carbon monoxide poisoning. Border Patrol agents surrounded the truck, and refused to intervene, despite demands from land defenders holding protective presence.
Three hours later, Border Patrol began driving the truck east along the easement road that runs along the US-Mexico border with the protester still locked down to its exterior after zip tying her legs and suspending them in the machine. This action poses a grave threat to the locked-down protester's life and well-being. Land defenders on site, responding quickly to the situation, were able to stop agents from driving the truck after the vehicle advanced about a hundred feet along the easement road.
According to those present, Border Patrol agents told the protester that they planned to take her "to the middle of nowhere where no one can hear you scream." Throughout the afternoon and now into the evening, Border Patrol agents have used aggressive pain compliance in an attempt to get the locked down protester to relent, and have held guns to the protesters chest.
Patagonia Fire and Rescue responded to the scene of the lockdown after protesters called for emergency medical response. Upon arrival, the emergency medial workers were turned away by Border Patrol agents. When bystanders called 911 seeking emergency medical attention for the locked down protester, the callers were informed that emergency medical services would not be responding to the scene.
Border Patrol has repeatedly attacked the surrounding crowd with so-called "less-lethal munitions", including pepperballs and teargas, while on private land. Border Patrol Agents, with their faces and name badges covered, also continue to brandish rifles, carring the implicit threat that they may escalate the situation to lethal force at any time.
Two other people have been detained as part of this most recent escalation.
Border Patrol agents have unleashed three continuous days of brutality on land defenders in Lochiel. Border patrol and BORTAC have beaten, detained, arrested, and maced activists engaged in morning prayer. Some of these land defenders were kidnapped for over 24 hours and beaten and abused while in custody.According to Adriana, one of the demonstrators, "We do not intend to back down. Our resolve only grows with their violence".
At the time of writing, a treesit on the Mexican side of the border is still active. Construction crews worked through the night Monday and Tuesday nights in an attempt to complete the secondary border wall that would cut the tree sitter off from material support from the US side of the border. This treesit, in the last remaining cottonwood tree standing on the borderline, has prevented work on the southern wall of the double wall system. US and Mexican forces are aware that construction endangers the life of the land defender high in the Abuela tree's branches, even as they push forward.
Land defenders insist they will continue dwelling in Tierra Libre of Lochiel AZ/La Noria MX. They are calling for all supporters and clergy to come to Lochiel AZ to help make space for prayer and grief for the Grandmother cottonwood tree killed on Tuesday, October 6th at 4 pm. "She was such a home for me," the tree sitter reflected, "I searched for even one leaf that did not have a hole from being eaten and never found one. She was her own ecosystem. She lived not only for all the creatures but to provide us with a way to defend all life in this region. We have to grieve but we need to honor her with action as well."

Oct. 1, 2026"Relatives of Renee Good, the Minneapolis woman fatally shot by an ICE agent early this year during the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, filed two federal lawsuits on Thursday, including one against the officer who shot her and several top officials in the Trump administration.
"The lawsuits, filed in Minnesota federal court, accused the #ICEAgent, #JonathanRoss, of having placed himself at risk by standing in front of Ms. Good’s car during a tense confrontation on Jan. 7 and unjustifiably using deadly force.

'She was killed on a public street, while doing what thousands of her neighbors were doing that winter: watching masked, armed men terrorizing her community and refusing to look away,' the lawsuit says.
"The second lawsuit, which lists the U.S. government as a defendant, is filed under a 1964 law that allows plaintiffs to seek redress for deaths caused by negligence.

"I was basically treated like a criminal" permanent resident said says after being grilled over whether she ever voted in any US Presidential election, a misunderstanding potentially due to a US #DMV automated registration error .
Eventually she was allowed to leave 6 hours later in wee hours after Paige Adamson signed documents agreeing to "surrender for removal from the United States, if so ordered."

"U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is looking to spend up to $2 million on robot dogs, according to a federal procurement notice.
The Boston Dynamic SPOT Robots will help "support public safety and law enforcement operations by providing a remotely operated robotic capability for inspection, situational awareness, and hazard assessment in environments that may pose risks to personnel," according to the notice.
The technology is also used by the Secret Service. In 2024, the company's robot dogs were seen patrolling Mar-A-Lago in social media videos that went viral.
