  1. I was like this when I got here, I swear...

Oh, damn, caught in the act. Well, fine, then. Don't bother fixing it, guys, cuz next time, I'll just karate chop it off at the base with my bare hands.

Who knew this is the super power I'd get after being bitten by that radioactive lizard? (I was hoping I'd turn into Godzilla, but ya take what ya can get.)

  7. Spent the night in the San Rafael Valley in southern Arizona so I could photograph this big juniper tree early in the morning. I also wanted to photograph the new construction on the wall that has happened since I was last there.

Not far from where the tree is, somebody had an oopsie with some of these wall panels. There are big dents that make it look like maybe a rookie excavator operator smashed into it or something. Or maybe those were from trying to right it after it tipped over for some other reason.

  12. The Department of Homeland Security bulldozed an at least 1,000-year-old archaeological site in Arizona.

The 200-ft fish intaglio—an enormous ground carving etched into the desert floor over generations—was ripped apart to build the wall.

DHS knew what they were destroying, as tribes have fought to protect this site for decades. #Arizona #BorderWall #DHS

  14. #Trump Bulldozed a 1,000-Year-Old #ArcheologicalSite to Make Room for a Second Border Wall

#DHS was in talks with the #WildlifeRefuge that hosts the ancient site to make sure it was protected, a local archeologist said.

"A rare archaeological site in the #SonoranDesert was bulldozed by a Department of Homeland Security contractor involved in building the latest sections of Donald Trump’s #BorderWall, according to multiple sources briefed on the incident.

"The area, in a remote corner of Arizona’s #CabezaPrieta #NationalWildlifeRefuge, is a nearly 280-by-50-foot etching in the desert sand known as an #intaglio.

"Last Friday, without any notice, a contractor working for DHS cut a roughly 60-foot swath across the middle of the intaglio, doing irreparable damage to the 1,000-year-old artifact.

"Cabeza Prieta, one of the largest wilderness areas outside of Alaska, also encompasses lands sacred to the #TohonoOodham Nation, which borders the refuge to the east. The O’odham have fought to prevent border wall construction across their reservation and during Trump’s first term largely prevailed; they also managed to protect the intaglio and a nearby burial site that they consider to be part of their ancestral lands.

" 'I liken it to destroying the Nazca lines — something that culturally we should have been relishing and promoting. Not destroying,' Rick Martynec, an archaeologist, said in a phone interview, referring to the hundreds of figures drawn into the deserts of southern Peru.

"The destruction was confirmed by a federal employee with direct knowledge of the incident, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisal."

  19. A protest gathering happening in southern Arizona in a couple of weeks. To get there, find Lochiel, AZ on the map and go there. There will probably be some signs indicating how to get to the camp.

    Please share.

  24. I took this note in 2009, before Trump's 1st term. I drove by again yesterday. I did not take another note, because the scene was unchanged! There is still no wall, all along the Rio Grande for hundreds of miles.

On all the roads in all the communities near here in Far West Texas (Trump country), there are hundreds of signs proclaiming nobigbendwall.org. It's working!
